Florida Online Sports Betting Goes Live with Surprise Hard Rock Sportsbook Launch

Add another state to the list of those accepting sports betting wagers.

Florida's Hard Rock Sportsbook made a big move to start the week on Monday, announcing that it launched online betting through its mobile app.

Hard Rock Sportsbook — which is also stationed in New Jersey and Iowa — will be the only shop operating to start. Florida does not require in-person sign ups.

Hard Rock is owned by the Seminole Tribe, which has a monopoly on sports betting in Florida. The launch comes several days before a federal hearing that looks to block sports betting in the state, so this won't be the last piece of news this month.

Other states currently allowing legal online sports betting are Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. Florida has the largest population of any.
