In a historic day for horse racing, the 151st running of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs not only captured the hearts of spectators, but also set a new benchmark for wagering.

With an impressive 147,406 spectators in attendance, the crowd watched as Sovereignty clinched victory at 7-1 odds. The excitement also translated into unprecedented wagering figures. Churchill Downs reported that betting from all sources on Derby Day amounted to a staggering $349 million, surpassing last year's record of $320.5 million.
