The end is nigh for fantasy baseball. If you have made it this far, congrats! It has been a season for lack of a better term. That said, waivers may not matter as much for you short of injuries.

From this week forward, the waiver wire piece will be smaller. Major changes are not needed at this point but tweaks as the season wraps help with off-days.

Pick Them Up

Myles Straw – OF/SS, Cleveland Indians

Yahoo: 54%, ESPN: 40%

Another strong week from Straw as he hit .500 with one run, one RBI, one stolen base, and three walks against the Minnesota Twins. Cleveland had a 25-inning scoreless streak that zapped fantasy production from all their hitters but Straw managed to crush.

Nicky Lopez – 2B/SS, Kansas City Royals

Yahoo: 46%, ESPN: 37%

The RBI production has been icing on the cake this past week for Lopez. He has a six-game hitting streak (five with multiple hits) and two multi-runs scored games in his past five. Hitting in front of Salvador Perez has been good to Lopez.

Jeimer Candelario – 1B/3B, Detroit Tigers

Yahoo: 34%, ESPN: 41%

Candelario is in the midst of another late-season heater. He has hits in six of his last nine games. He has scored a run or collected an RBI in each of those games.

Worth A Look

Kolten Wong – 2B, Milwaukee Brewers

Yahoo: 32%, ESPN: 45%

If Nicky Lopez is not available, Wong is more than acceptable to add. His RBI production is spotty as a lead-off hitter but has had at least one multi-hit game each week since the last week of July. Wong is also consistent, never going more than two games without a hit over that time.

Cesar Hernandez – 2B, Chicago White Sox

Yahoo: 23%, ESPN: 36%

Hernandez is logging time as Chicago’s leadoff hitter with Tim Anderson on the 10-day IL. He had his best week since mid-August with four hits and 3 RBI’s in Oakland. Hernandez has added value as long as he is hitting first or second in the White Sox lineup.

Short-Term Solutions

Mike Zunino – C, Tampa Bay Rays

Yahoo: 45%, ESPN: 37%

Zunino and the Rays face two lefties in Detroit this weekend. He is hitting .358 with six homers and 16 RBI’s on the road against lefties.

Bobby Dalbec – 1B/3B, Boston Red Sox

Yahoo: 36%, ESPN: 21%

The Chicago White Sox have not named two of their starters for their weekend series against Boston. If the White Sox use bullpen day(s), Dalbec can tee off. Chicago’s bullpen has the fourth-highest Hard Hit percentage in September.

I Am Skeptical

Jose Iglesias – SS, Boston Red Sox

Yahoo: 3%, ESPN: 6%

Iglesias goes back to a familiar place after being released by the Angels, but is nothing more than filler until Xander Bogaerts is back. He is hitting below his career marks across the board.
