Princeton Upsets Arizona in Top 10 Biggest Upset in Tourney History; What Were the Odds?

The 15-seeded Princeton Tigers shocked the 2-seeded Arizona Wildcats on Thursday with a win in the first round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

With Arizona closing as 15-point favorites, it's tied as the ninth-biggest upset in NCAA Tournament history by the spread, with Arizona becoming the first team ever to lose twice as 15-point favorites or more.

What were the odds of the upset?

Princeton was as long as a +920 underdog to win outright, with Arizona anywhere from -1100 to -1800 on the moneyline. That equals a fair implied probability of Princeton pulling off the upset of approximately 9.3 to 9.5%.

Only 8% of the moneyline bets were on Princeton to pull off the upset, but a massive 62% of the money wagered was on the Tigers.
