Top NHL Prop Bets for Monday: Anthony Mantha Over/Under 2.5 Total Shots on Goal?

There are only four games on Monday, but we still have plenty of opportunities to look for exploitable prop bets by leveraging our NHL Models and Trends tool as well as the Bet Labs database.

Here are two props I’m eyeing for the Red Wings-Ducks game, which starts at 10 p.m. ET.

Red Wings W Anthony Mantha

The pick: Over 2.5 shots on goal (+150)

Over the past year, Mantha has averaged 2.35 shots per game. That said, this may be an intriguing line for value bettors to attack today against a Ducks team that has allowed the fifth-most shots per game (37.0) to start the season.

This isn’t exactly a new development for the Ducks, as Anaheim is in the 70th percentile in shot attempts allowed over the past year.

This line could skew toward the perceived strength of this team, which is likely on the back end with Hampus Lindholm, Josh Manson and Cam Fowler, each of whom had at least 95 blocked shots last year.  Regardless, it looks like a decent spot to attack at +150.

Ducks C Ryan Getzlaf

The pick: Under 2.0 shots on goal (-140)

The juice at -140 looks a tad inflated here for a guy who has averaged only 2.05 shots per game over the past year, falling in the 67th percentile over that same time period.

The matchup doesn’t set up exceedingly well for a shooting spike for Getzlaf either, as the Red Wings are a middle-of-the pack team in all shots-against metrics over the past couple of seasons. In a more recent sample, the Red Wings gave up just 25 shots in their only road game this season, and Getzlaf has only one shot to his credit through two games for the Ducks.
