NHL Futures Odds
NHL Odds & Futures
An NHL "futures" bet is a bet on an event that will be determined in the future--beyond just the current day or week. Often, futures center around end-of-season results like betting on a team to win the Stanley Cup. If the selected team or players wins the event on which the bet was placed, the bettor wins their bet.
Futures odds are associated with big payouts, hence greater-scale-than-normal odds like +6000 are not unheard of. It is hard to win the Stanley Cup and difficult to predict early in a season. Even the best teams, or "most likely" outcomes, will be plus-money far off from the event date. Futures are available across the season for conference and division outcomes, individual player awards, and more.

Stanley Cup Odds
The Stanley Cup is the oldest existing trophy to be awarded to a professional sports franchise in North America. To win this prestigious trophy is every hockey player's dream and last year the Tampa Bay Lightning had the opportunity to win cup two years in a row. The current favorite is the Colorado Avalanche to win the 2022 Stanley Cup and just like last year they were in this position at this time. We'll see if they can fulfill their dreams to get their names on the Stanley Cup.

Key NHL Finals Dates & 2021 Overview
2022 NHL Playoffs will begin on Monday, May 2nd, and end as late as Thursday, June 30
Last year’s Finals recap: Tampa Bay Lightning won the series 4-1 vs the Montreal Canadiens.
Regular Season Point Total Odds
Like most sports, the best time to bet on NHL point totals is right before the season starts. In the beginning of the season, the Colorado Avalanche have the largest point total to overcome for the second straight season at 111.5 points. Reaching the midway point of the season, the Avalanche still own the most points to reach in a season.
Hart Trophy Odds
The Professional Hockey Writers’ Association has awarded the Hart Memorial Trophy to the league’s most valuable player since 1926. With 32 teams in the NHL, the Hart Trophy race has never been more exciting. Connor McDavid, who won the award twice already (2017, 2021), maintains the top odds slot to win the award.

Art Ross Trophy Odds
The Art Ross Trophy is awarded to the NHL’s regular-season points leader. Last season, Connor McDavid captured his third Art Ross trophy scoring 105 points in 56 games and this year he is once again the favorite to win the trophy again. McDavid and his teammate, Leon Draisaitl, lead the league in points at the halfway point of the season.
Vezina Trophy odds
The Vezina Trophy is awarded at the conclusion of every season to the goalie deemed to be the best at his position. Last season, the Vezina Trophy was awarded to Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, his first time taking home this honor. That season he had a career high in save percentage with .928 as well as goals-against average with 1.98. This season, Andrei Vasilevskiy of the Tampa Lightning is looking for his second Vezina Trophy as he remains the favorite to win.
Calder Trophy Odds
The Calder Trophy is awarded to the player selected as the most proficient in his first year of competition in the NHL. Last season, Kirill Kaprizov of the Minnesota Wild won the Calder Trophy. Kaprizov led all rookies in goals (27), points (51), power-play goals (eight) and shots on goal (157) in 55 games. Lucas Raymond, of the Detroit Red Wings, is the favorite to win the trophy this year, leading all rookies in goals and points.
Eastern Conference Futures Odds
The Florida Panthers have made an unforgiving run to the top of the Eastern Conference futures board. Although, they are tied with the Tampa Bay Lightning as the odds-on favorites to represent the East in the Stanley Cup Finals. Few teams have as dominant metrics as the Panthers, with the second-best expected goals-for rating at five-on-five and the best rating across all strengths. Florida’s success is premised on offense, and almost no one does it better, as the Panthers rank second in the league in expected goals-for per game.

Atlantic Division
After a solid few weeks, the Lightning are charging for the Panthers as they narrow the gap in the Atlantic NHL Divisional odds. While the Panthers have performed well across the board and are absolutely filling the net at the offensive end of the ice, the bounce back of two-time Vezina winner Sergei Bobrovsky is a major positive for Florida.

Metropolitan Division
Although the Hurricanes have been slumping a little bit recently, they are among the best teams on both sided of the puck, boast strong special teams and are one of the better faceoff teams in the league. While many clubs rely on a top line to do the heavy lifting, it’s a team effort both up front and on the back end for one of, if not the deepest team in the NHL.

- Carolina Hurricanes +155

Western Conference Futures Odds
The Colorado Avalanche continue to lead the way as the favorite to win the West. They are closely followed by the red-hot Vegas Golden Knights, who now sit behind them. However, it is tough to look past teams that have made steady gains. The Minnesota Wild have surprised few observers with a fast start that has put them in contention to win the Conference. We'll see how things shape up at the end of the regular season.

Central Division
Despite the Wild strong start to the season, the Avalanche remain atop of the Central NHL Divisional odds. The Avalanche’s dominance starts and ends with their first line. Colorado has solid depth scoring, a great young defensive corps and good goaltending, but the top forward group of Gabriel Landeskog, Mikko Rantanen and Nathan MacKinnon is all the Avalanche need to position themselves on top of the NHL Central Division odds.

Pacific Division
With both the Flames and Oilers on long losing streaks as of late, the Golden Knights have reclaimed their position as the favorite to win the Pacific Division. The Vegas Golden Knights shocked the world in their first season, reaching the Stanley Cup Final, stockpiling draft picks and setting the franchise up for years of dominance. They haven’t stopped since.

Betting on NHL Futures
After a long season and the NHL Playoffs eliminate teams from 16 to two for the Stanley Cup Finals, oddsmakers will set American Odds on the championship match-up. At this point, these are no longer future odds -- the main event is near! For an event this major, the odds have a name: the Stanley Cup Finals Odds Series Price, using American Odds.
Tampa Bay Lightning -140 (Bet $100; win $40 on the Lightning)
Montreal Canadiens +200 (Bet $100; win $200 on the Canadiens)
For additional resources, check out our betting calculators and our guide to betting on hockey. But here are the fast facts on odd types and how to bet on the NBA Finals.
What are American Odds?
American Odds are the default odds at U.S. sportsbooks. The odds are based on winning $100 for a given bet on either the Favorite or the Underdog. A Favorite will have a minus (-) sign next to the odds and represents the money you need to risk to win $100. An Underdog will have a plus (+) sign in front and represents the money you can win for every $100 risked. So, if you're betting on the Lightning at -140 against the Canadiens, that means Tampa Bay is a slight favorite. You need to risk $140 to win $100 on the Canadiens. If they win, you profit $100 and get your original $140 back.
What are Decimal Odds?
Beyond the U.S., most of the world uses Decimal Odds, in part because it’s easier to convert them to implied probabilities. Decimal odds represent the amount you win for every $1 wagered. And the number represents the total return, not just the profit (this is different from American and fractional odds).
What are Fractional Odds?
Fractional Odds are used primarily in Ireland and the United Kingdom. Few bettors use fractional odds for betting sports other than horse racing, because the conversions to understand return are challenging. To calculate winnings on fractional odds, multiply your bet by the top number (the numerator), then divide the result by the bottom number (the denominator).
