MLB Injury News & Starting Lineups (April 4): Ke’Bryan Hayes (Wrist), Hunter Dozier (Thumb) Not in Lineups

3 p.m. ET: Twins center fielder Byron Buxton was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the third inning of Sunday's game against the Brewers. Brent Rooker struck out against Adrian Houser and remained in the game. The Twins announced Buxton had been removed with a non-COVID illness.

10:45 a.m. ET Update: Pirates third baseman and NL Rookie of the Year favorite Ke'Bryan Hayes is not in the lineup for Pittsburgh's series finale against the Chicago Cubs. Hayes injured his wrist in Saturday's game and was placed on the 10-day IL on Sunday although X-rays reportedly were negative. Hayes was replaced in the lineup by Phillip Evans.

Royals third baseman Hunter Dozier is also out for the second straight game after injuring his thumb in Kansas City's Opening Day game against the Texas Rangers. He's still considered day-to-day. He was replaced in the lineup by Hanser Alberto.

Among the top players to get days off on Sunday are Giancarlo Stanton of the Yankees (replaced by Brett Gardner), J.T. Realmuto of the Phillies (replaced by Andrew Knapp), Rafael Devers of the Red Sox (replaced by Christian Arroyo).

Manager Dave Roberts' desire to get his players rest early in the season means stars Cody Bellinger and Corey Seager won't be in the lineup for the Dodgers' series finale against the Colorado Rockies on Sunday. This comes one day after the team rested Mookie Betts and Justin Turner.

Zach McKinstry and Chris Taylor are expected to start in place of Bellinger and Seager.
