Last week, I hit the Air Force team total and I mentioned that the public was slow to adapt to the fact that Air Force had it going on offensively. The same is true of Old Dominion. Ricky Rahne has never had a winning season, and just when you think the Monarchs have turned the corner, they seem to let you down. But that is different this year. After a respectable cover against Indiana, a 13-point loss that’s looking better by the minute, they’ve averaged 42 points per game while reeling off four wins in a row. That included beating Va Tech down so badly they fired Brent Pry. Last week against Coastal they won by 40, their biggest blowout win as an FBS member. Colton Joseph has taken the leap to G5 superstar quarterback. He’s on pace for 3K through the air, 1K on the ground with 40 touchdowns. That’s rarified air, that’s Colin Kapernick at Nevada level dual-threatry. Do you know the other G5 QB to hit 3K passing, 1K rushing and 40+ TDs? Dan LeFevour. With CoJo at the controls, ODU is 2nd in explosiveness, and third in points per opportunity. Can Marshall slow them down? The same Marshall defense that just gave up 54 to Louisiana and dual threat Lunch Winfield? He ran for 129 and three scores on them. So CoJo is gonna destroy this defense. Marshall is 106th in tackling, 103rd in Big Play containment and 116th in coverage. There’s nowhere for this defense to hide.

Much better team. Love the way the monarches are playing right now on both sides. Marshall quarterback play still inferior and this ODU defense will completely shut them down.
