Ragin' Cajuns 2026 Schedule & Betting Odds
Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Odds & Betting Guide — 2026 Season
Louisiana sat at 2-5 last October and still reached a bowl game, extending a streak that now stands at eight straight seasons. That floor is the most reliable thing about this program, and it is what every number here rests on.
Where Louisiana stands
The 2025 season finished 6-7 with a 5-3 conference record and a 20-13 loss to Delaware in the 68 Ventures Bowl. The path there was unusual. The Cajuns were picked to win the West Division, fell to 2-5, then won their final four regular-season games to become bowl eligible for an eighth consecutive year.
That streak is the ninth-longest active run in the FBS, and Louisiana has reached a bowl in every season under Michael Desormeaux, who now enters year five.
The 2024 team set the recent high mark at 10-4 with a 7-1 conference record, a Sun Belt Championship Game appearance and a perfect 6-0 record on the road. Only six FBS teams went unbeaten away from home that season, and the others were Penn State, Oregon, Texas, Army and Notre Dame. Desormeaux took Sun Belt Coach of the Year, quarterback Ben Wooldridge won conference Offensive Player of the Year, and kicker Kenneth Almendares won the Lou Groza Award as the nation's best placekicker.
Continuity runs deep. Tim Leger enters his sixth season as offensive coordinator, Jim Salgado his third on defense, and Jorge Munoz his fifth as associate head coach. Desormeaux himself joined the staff in 2016 and was promoted from co-coordinator when Billy Napier left for Florida.
Sun Belt coaches picked Louisiana second in the West Division with one first-place vote. Receiver Shelton Sampson Jr. and defensive back Brent Gordon Jr. earned preseason All-Sun Belt recognition among four selections.
The program also moved into Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium, the renamed home venue in Lafayette.
The Sun Belt West in 2026
Texas State left for the rebuilt Pac-12 and Louisiana Tech arrived from Conference USA, with the two-division structure intact. Louisiana plays all six West opponents plus crossovers against Coastal Carolina at home on Nov. 21 and at Georgia State on Nov. 28.
The non-conference slate is front-loaded and difficult. After FCS Lamar on Sept. 5, the Cajuns travel to No. 14 USC on Sept. 12 for an 11 p.m. Eastern kickoff, then host UAB and travel to Charlotte.
Two scheduling details stand out. The USC game is the latest kickoff on any schedule in the conference, an 8 p.m. Pacific start that means a Lafayette team playing on the West Coast well past midnight body-clock time. And the Battle on the Bayou at UL Monroe falls on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 9 p.m. Eastern, a weeknight rivalry game in the middle of the season's most important stretch.
Louisiana 2026 futures odds
Books set the win total at 7.5, the highest in the Sun Belt West.
The over case is the floor. Eight straight bowl appearances, a bowl in every Desormeaux season, and five Sun Belt Championship Game appearances in the seven years the game has existed describes a program that does not have bad years. Even the 2025 season, which looked lost at 2-5, ended with four straight wins.
Continuity supports it. A sixth-year offensive coordinator and a fifth-year head coach who came up through the same building is rare stability at this level, particularly in a conference where three programs changed head coaches this offseason.
The case against is that 7.5 asks for more than the floor. Louisiana has cleared eight wins once in four years under Desormeaux, and the schedule includes a road trip to a top-15 Big Ten program, a Thursday rivalry game, and a West Division where Troy and Arkansas State both visit or host in meaningful spots.
Weigh both against the rest of the college football futures board.
Season-long markets also trade on prediction markets, where a Sun Belt number draws thin volume and can drift from the sportsbook price. A Kalshi promo code or a Novig promo code gets you started, our Kalshi vs. Polymarket breakdown compares the platforms, and we collect current NCAAF prediction market promos in one place.
Betting Louisiana point spreads
A point spread bet turns on margin of victory rather than who wins.
Take the Thursday, Nov. 12 Battle on the Bayou at UL Monroe. These are illustrative prices, so pull live college football odds for the real number:
- Louisiana -10.5 (-110)
- UL Monroe +10.5 (-110)
Louisiana covers by winning by 11 or more. UL Monroe covers by losing by 10 or fewer, or by winning outright. The -110 on each side is the vig: risk $1.10 to win $1.
The Cajuns angle: road performance is the distinguishing feature of this program under Desormeaux. Louisiana went 6-0 away from home in 2024, one of only six unbeaten road records in the FBS that year, and it did so as a Group of Five program while Penn State, Oregon and Texas made up most of the rest of that list.
Road cover rates are systematically undervalued because home-field advantage is applied uniformly across teams that do not deserve it uniformly. A program that travels well is worth a point or two that the number does not reflect, and Louisiana has five road games plus the neutral-feeling USC trip.
Track it through the against the spread standings, watching the home-road split specifically rather than the season figure.

Betting Louisiana totals
An over/under asks whether the combined final score lands above or below the posted number. At 48.5, a 28-24 final goes over and a 24-21 final stays under.
- Over 48.5 (-110)
- Under 48.5 (-110)
Leger's spread offense enters its sixth year, which means the system is well-documented and the market prices it accurately most weeks. Salgado's 4-3 defense is in year three.
The kicking game is the wrinkle worth knowing. Louisiana produced the Lou Groza Award winner in 2024, and a program that reliably converts field goals scores differently than one that does not. Field goal reliability compresses totals slightly, because drives that stall inside the 30 produce three points rather than zero, and it also affects how close games finish.
The two extreme kickoff slots deserve separate treatment. The 11 p.m. Eastern trip to USC and the 9 p.m. Thursday rivalry game at UL Monroe both fall in windows where markets open later, attract thinner action and move on smaller amounts of money. Public betting data helps read those spots, since it separates the share of tickets from the share of dollars.
Our analysts work the same angles in weekly college football picks.
Betting the Louisiana moneyline
A moneyline bet is a bet on who wins outright. Margin is irrelevant.
An illustrative home price:
- Louisiana -200
- Opponent +170
Convert to implied probability and the margin shows. Louisiana at -200 breaks even around 66.7%; the opponent at +170 breaks even around 37%. Those sum past 100%, and the excess is the sportsbook's cut.
On payouts, $10 on Louisiana at -200 returns $15 for a $5 profit. The same $10 at +170 returns $27 for a $17 profit. An odds calculator handles any price.
Eight consecutive bowl seasons means Louisiana has reached six wins every year since 2018, which makes it one of the safer Group of Five favorites in the country. Short prices on this program have been correct more often than the conference average.
The USC trip is the obvious long-price spot. Louisiana will be a substantial underdog against a top-15 Big Ten team, though a program that went unbeaten on the road in 2024 against Group of Five competition is a different proposition than a typical Sun Belt visitor to the Coliseum.
Louisiana player props
College prop markets aren't offered in every legal state, so availability varies even where you can bet the game.
Sampson is the name to build around after earning preseason All-Sun Belt recognition, and a sixth-year offensive coordinator means target distribution is more predictable here than at most programs this level.
Kicking props deserve genuine attention, which is rarely true. Louisiana produced a Groza Award winner two seasons ago, and the program has continued to prioritize the position. Where books offer field goal made props or kicker points, a team that reaches scoring range consistently without always finishing drives produces volume that oddsmakers do not always model carefully.
The quarterback market is the least settled. Wooldridge's conference Player of the Year season came in 2024, and the position has turned over since, so passing lines will be built off system assumptions more than player history.
