NFL weather has generally been mild so far this season, but that is expected to change with a bang based on current Week 8 forecasts.

Eight (!) games, including the Sunday Night Football showdown between the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles, are currently forecasted to see double-digit winds, which have a significant effect on points scored and, therefore, over/under totals.

According to our High Winds PRO Betting System, unders are 456-351-8 (57%) in NFL games played in average winds of at least 10 mph and temperatures above 33 degrees since 2003. Needless to say, this historically-profitable trend makes real-world sense.

Gusty conditions make connecting on deep passes more difficult, which hampers explosive offensive plays. In addition, field goals and extra points become much more challenging in heavy breezes.

Strong winds also have an effect on fantasy football as well, considering less scoring overall means fewer fantasy points for your players. Be sure to check out The Action Network’s updated Week 8 Fantasy Football rankings before setting your lineup today.
