The 2021 New York Yankees are not good.
To be fair, we’re just 18 games through the 162-game season, but the Bronx Bombers certainly aren’t off to the start that most expected.
The Yankees are just 7-11 on the young season, placing them in the AL East cellar and trailing the division-leading Red Sox by four games.
Not only has it been an ugly start for the Yankees and their fans, but also for anyone betting on the team. New York backers have taken it on the chin this season.
According to our Bet Labs software, which archives historical MLB betting data since the start of the 2005 season, this is the worst start we’ve ever tracked for a Yankees team through its first 18 games.
The table below shows the betting performance of the Yankees through 18 games of the past 17 season, ranked by units won or lost*.
*Units won or lost assumes a bettor risked $100 on every Yankees moneyline and is calculated using closing odds for each game.

In fact, only the 5-13 Colorado Rockies have lost more money for bettors this season than the Yankees.
Here’s a look at the five worst teams, in terms of units won, as of April 23:
2021 MLB Betting Results
|New York Yankees||7-11||-6.51|
|New York Mets||6-7||-3.03|
While the picture certainly hasn’t been pretty so far for the 2021 Yankees, there still remains ample time to right the ship: After all, we’re still not even through the month of April.
In fact, the latest MLB odds from DraftKings Sportsbook list the New York Yankees at +750 to win the World Series: The second-most likely team behind the Los Angeles Dodgers (+325).
At the time of writing, the Yankees are -143 road favorites (click here for live MLB odds) against the Cleveland Indians on Friday night.
