AFC West Divisional Odds

  • Kansas City Chiefs: -225
  • Los Angeles Chargers: +225
  • Denver Broncos: 16-1
  • Oakland Raiders: 20-1

The Kansas City Chiefs have won the AFC West three years in a row. With a 23-year-old MVP quarterback in Patrick Mahomes, the oddsmakers expect KC to finish atop the AFC West once again this season.

The Chiefs check in at -225 at the Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas, while the Los Angeles Chargers  are expected to be the closest contenders at +225.

Denver (16-1) and Oakland (20-1) would be surprising division winners. The Broncos and Raiders each won six or fewer games in 2018 and have questionable quarterback situations.

According to The Action Network simulations, the Chiefs have a 61.2% chance to win the division. If Kansas City doesn't win a fourth consecutive title the Chargers are the next most likely champion with a 31.7% chance.

The Broncos have a 5.5% chance and the Raiders a 1.6% chance of making a stunning run to the top of the division.

AFC West Best Bet

No team is offering bettors great value to win the division. However, if you are looking to place a wager the Chargers are priced fairly to win the AFC West.

A smarter bet is the Chiefs to a make the playoffs. Kansas City is -300, bet $300 to win $100, to reach the postseason.

Mahomes helped the team lead the league in scoring a season ago (35.3 points per game). Nearly every piece from the unstoppable offense is back in 2019.

Kansas City is projected to be favored in all but one game this season — the lone exception is at the Patriots in Week 14. With a high-scoring offense and favorable matchups, we project the Chiefs to win 10.3 games this season on average — the second most in football.

At -300 odds, the implied probability of Kansas City being a playoff team is 75.0%. We project Mahomes & Co. to reach the postseason 80.8% of the time.
