Chase Edmonds, Raheem Mostert Fantasy Football Rankings: How Sony Michel’s Release Affects Dolphins Running Backs

- Chase Edmonds and Raheem Mostert have steamed up the Action Network's fantasy football rankings after Sony Michel was released by the Dolphins on Monday.
- Edmonds is now among the top 30 running backs in fantasy, according to Sean Koerner, who has been ranked as Fantasy Pros' most accurate draft ranker since 2019.
The Dolphins released Sony Michel on Monday, and the news reflects well on Chase Edmonds and Raheem Mostert's fantasy football prospects.
Miami's backfield had been congested with the three aforementioned running backs. With Michel out of the picture, Edmonds has moved up from the 31st-ranked running back in fantasy football to the 26th, according to the Action Network's director of predictive analytics Sean Koerner.
Koerner has been FantasyPros' most accurate draft ranker for the last three seasons, dating back to 2019.
"[Edmonds\ should see an extra couple carries a game and is more likely to see goal-line touches with Michel out of the picture," Koerner said. "He is now a Mostert injury away of being a potential low-end RB2, so he carries a nice floor/ceiling combo in the RB30 range right now."
As far as Mostert's fantasy value, that has increased as well, according to Koerner.
"He's sneaky as long as he's healthy," Koerner said. "He is already familiar with the scheme — it'll be very close to the 49ers scheme — and Michel's release helps boost his value."
The Dolphins have three other players on Koerner's top-150 list for half-PPR leagues. Newly acquired wide receiver Tyreek Hill is the 24th-best player overall and the eighth-best wideout. Second-year WR Jaylen Waddle is the 19th-best receiver and the 41st-best player on Koerner's list. Tight end Mike Gesecki is the 127th-ranked player overall.
