The postseason has officially arrived, and with it comes the high-stakes nature of the NBA Play-In Tournament. Tonight, the Charlotte Hornets (9) travel to Orlando to take on the Magic (8).
In a game as meaningful as this one, we aren't just looking for standard lines — we’re looking for the "ceiling" performances. That’s where the ladder pick comes in. If you think a player might go way over their line, you bet their standard over, then "ladder" up into alternate territories (25+, 30+, 35+) for a higher payout.
Today, I'm targeting the Hornets' late-game hero against the Heat: Coby White.

Coby White Prop Ladder
The Hornets' dynamic scoring is largely why they have been a bad matchup for the Magic.
Enter Coby White. Less than one year removed from hanging 44 on the Magic while he was a member of the Bulls, he was traded to the Hornets for a combination of second-round picks in 2031.
White played just one game against Orlando following the trade, and he dropped a game-high 27 in 23 minutes.
We saw his uptick in Round 1 of the play-in, jumping to 26 minutes in a do-or-die overtime effort against the Heat, where he finished with 19 on 7-of-15 shooting, including a 5-for-8 display from deep.
Maybe he doesn’t hit five threes on eight attempts again – although he did exactly that against Orlando last month — but would I be surprised to see the same volume? Not quite.
Kon Knueppel, who went 2-for-12 and 0-for-6 from deep, has shot just 35% from deep and averaged 15 points in the last 15 games of the season prior to the play-in.
Additionally, we saw Diet Coby – Collin Sexton – excel in this spot before being traded.
Sexton scored 19 points twice in three games against Orlando this season, though on extremely limited volume, but was hyper-efficient. In fact, he averaged 17 points per game while shooting 16-for-23 against Orlando.
The point is, this could very well be another Coby-spot. I’m climbing the ladder.
