Last year's Coca-Cola 600 was shortened due to rain — the race ran just 249 of the scheduled 400 laps — and the NASCAR weather forecast for this year's edition is showing a chance of rain once again.
Now, the latest NASCAR weather report for Sunday's Coca-Cola 600 (6 p.m. ET, Amazon Prime) isn't nearly as worrisome as it was one year ago, though the Charlotte forecast has progressively gotten worse throughout the week.
So let's go ahead and take a look at the updated NASCAR weather report for tonight's race in Charlotte, including the chances that rain delays the Coca-Cola 600.
NASCAR Weather Report for Coca-Cola 600
According to the National Weather Service, there is a 40% chance of rain on Sunday at Charlotte Motor Speedway, which then increases to 50% as the sun sets.
Specifically, the hourly breakdown is calling for a 33% chance of precipitation at 6 p.m. ET, which then increases to 42% at 8 p.m. ET.
For those curious, the Coca-Cola 600 will be official at the half-way mark of tonight's race, which would be upon the completion of lap 200.
And obviously with a scheduled 6 p.m. ET green flag, Charlotte Motor Speedway does have lights, providing a window for NASCAR to dry the track and still complete the entire 400-lap distance should there be a short delay for rain.
In the event that tonight's race is postponed due to rain, there's a 20% chance of rain on Monday.
Live NASCAR odds show Kyle Larson as the race favorite at +360, with William Byron (+600), Tyler Reddick (+850), Ryan Blaney (+900) and Christopher Bell (+900) rounding out the top five.
