The Knicks are in serious trouble, and they need their star players to come through today in Atlanta against a hungry Hawks team.

In a game as meaningful as this one, we aren't just looking for standard lines — we’re looking for the "ceiling" performances. That’s where the ladder pick comes in. If you think a player might go way over their line, you bet their standard over, then "ladder" up into alternate territories (25+, 30+, 35+) for a higher payout.

Today, I'm targeting Knicks' center Karl-Anthony Towns.

Karl-Anthony Towns Player Prop Preview

Karl-Anthony Towns just had, by far, his best game of the series, putting up 21 points and 17 rebounds on just 12 shot attempts.

Although he’s made some adjustments, head coach Mike Brown hasn’t had a great series. But one adjustment to ostensibly save the Knicks' season would be to design plays to generate easier looks for Towns.

Now, you could give these dudes the greatest playbook ever, but players have to execute, which hasn’t been a given for the Knicks in these last five quarters.

However, if the Knicks are able to get KAT more pick-and-pop opportunities, chances around or near the basket, feeding him the ball while already in motion downhill from the top of the key, it’ll add some needed flow to the Knicks offense.

Dyson Daniels, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Jonathan Kuminga, Onyeka Okongwu, and Jalen Johnson are all getting reps on the Hawks guarding Jalen Brunson, which is wearing the little guy out. He’s 22-for-60 (36.6% from the field) since his hellacious first quarter in Game 1 — and Mikal Bridges hasn’t been the secondary creator he was traded for.

The answer needs to be, responsibly, more KAT. We’ve seen what happens when there’s too much KAT, but Atlanta has a much more difficult time containing him than anyone else on the Knicks.

So this is banking on the team, with their season virtually on the line, to recognize this. But they need to execute.
