Heat vs Raptors NBA Preview
The Heat really need to win this one. Miami is in 10th place and 1.5 games out of a three-way tie for seventh. Meanwhile, the Raptors are sixth place, but just three games ahead of that three-way tie for seventh — which is Charlotte, Philly and Orlando.
The Heat have already taken two home losses against Toronto, and will now play in Toronto tonight and Thursday. These two games are enormous for the 5-10 region out East.
The injury report tonight is as follows. For Toronto, Immanuel Quickley (foot), Collin Murray-Boyles (quads) and Sandro Mamukelashvili (knee) are questionable.
For Miami, Tyler Herro (personal) and Norman Powell (illness) are probable. Nikola Jovic (ankle) is out, but he doesn't play anymore anyway. Neither does Terry Rozier, who is still on the roster.
Heat vs Raptors Predictions, Betting Analysis
RJ Barrett has gone over this line in three of his last five and five of his last six games against the Heat — who might be getting both one-way guards back in Herro and Powell.
Barrett loves playing this Heat defense, which has allowed 134 or more points in 6-of-9 and 123 or more in 7-of-9.
Even with the Knicks, he averaged 20.8 points against the Heat in the 2023 playoffs, often because Erik Spoelstra focused heavily on Jalen Brunson, Julius Randle and shooters.
Tonight, Scottie Barnes and Brandon Ingram will garner more attention from Bam Adebayo and Andrew Wiggins — and if Quickley plays, Davion Mitchell will have that responsibility.
Barrett, in general, should see a favorable set of shots going downhill and from the perimeter against a struggling backcourt defense.
Pick: RJ Barrett Over 21.5 Points (-118)
