Timberwolves vs Hornets NBA Preview

We have significant injuries in this one, but what else is new?

For Minnesota, Anthony Edwards remains out (hamstring), while Jayden Clark is questionable (calf strain).

For Charlotte, unfortunately, it's a loaded injury report, which seems to be the case every season.

Brandon Miller (shoulder) remains out, as well as Grant Williams (knee) and Josh Green (shoulder).

Even LaMelo Ball is questionable (ankle) to play in this game, though he's had perfect attendance so far.

Of note, the Timberwolves are the only team in the NBA who haven't covered a spread at 0-5 ATS this season, though they're 2-3 SU.

The Hornets, while 2-3 on the year, stand at 3-2 ATS.

Timberwolves vs Hornets Prediction, Betting Analysis

No Edwards, no Miller, and no true wing-stoppers could mean another big day for Jaden McDaniels.

McDaniels has had 25 and 30 points in the two games Minnesota has been without Anthony Edwards this season.

He's at 17.5 points against a Hornets team that, while more talented, is a team that will struggle defensively all season.

McDaniels and Julius Randle are running things in Edwards' abscence, with McDaniels shooting 11-for-19 and 10-for-16 in his last two, making all nine free throws across both games (five and four, respectively), while shooting 3-for-4 from three to follow a 1-for-3 outing.

You're getting volume, and tonight, a much better match-up than the Nuggets or Lakers.

On Charlotte, I also like rookie Sion James to hit a three.

James doesn't share a ton of volume, which is worrisome, but this is literally betting. There are no sure things here.

Regardless, James has made a three in four straight games while an increasing amount of minutes.

We've seen his playing time jump gradually from 17 to 28 minutes over time, and if Ball sits, there's a chance for another jump.

I'm playing this not counting on Ball's absence, though.

Even then, exactly half of the 22 attempts from the field to James' name this season have been from deep, where he's 8-for-11.
