The Baton Rouge casino scene will never be the same.
Bally's Baton Rouge has transformed from a riverboat casino into an impressive land-based facility. The operator is hoping this change brings new energy to the downtown riverfront district in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The redevelopment cost around $140–141 million. It's an investment that is expected to revitalize the casino and breathe new life into the downtown area.
By moving gaming operations from the river to a land-based footprint, Bally's has broadened its appeal. The project included a full renovation of the existing hotel and the construction of a new parking facility with around 500 spaces.
Louisiana casinos have a history of performing well, but a dip in revenue prompted the change.
Old Baton Rouge Casino Was Underperforming
Previously, the Belle of Baton Rouge was not performing well, with low admissions and gaming revenue.
It was the lowest-performing property in Louisiana by admissions and gaming revenue, generating only about $7 million in annual GGR and fewer than 120,000 visits in a recent fiscal year.
However, the successful repositioning of another downtown property, The Queen Baton Rouge (another downtown property now under common ownership),, gives Bally's a positive outlook for future growth.

The Queen Baton Rouge saw a material uplift in GGR after its own $100+ million project, giving a direct local proof point for Bally’s ROI thesis. Bally's projects that this latest redevelopment will boost the casino's performance significantly.
It's also important to note that this investment goes beyond just business. Bally's Baton Rouge has added approximately 350 new jobs, raising the total workforce to over 500.
In combination with upgrades at The Queen, Bally’s has contributed over $250 million to the local economy. This move is part of a larger effort to strengthen the riverfront entertainment district and support the downtown economy.
The New Bally's Baton Rouge Casino Offers More Than Gaming

The upgrades feature modern finishes, providing guests with a comfortable stay. Some rooms even offer stunning views of downtown Baton Rouge and the LSU/Tiger Stadium. The hotel also includes a modernized fitness center and refreshed public spaces, giving guests easy access to all amenities.
