West Ham vs. Everton Betting Analysis

Everton and West Ham are both coming off seasons to forget. They finished 13th and 14th, respectively, with more losses than wins and nowhere near qualifying for European competition.

While both clubs underperformed relative to their history, squad strength and budget, there's a clear difference between them heading into the new season. West Ham has kept its core players and is looking to improve performance, while Everton is undergoing a near-total squad overhaul.

Graham Potter’s side has brought in left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf from Slavia Prague and full-back Kyle Walker-Peters on a free transfer. The club remains active in the market, especially looking to replace winger Mohammed Kudus, who was sold to Tottenham.

Meanwhile, David Moyes is leading a major rebuild at Everton and for good reason: the club has lost five senior players this window, including striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Mali midfielder Abdoulaye Doucouré, after their contracts expired.

Everton is close to signing teenage defender Adam Aznou from Bayern Munich, has brought in goalkeeper Mark Travers, made Carlos Alcaraz’s loan move permanent, and signed French striker Thierno Barry for £27 million. And that’s not all —Moyes has already stated he’s targeting six more signings before the window closes.

Moyes’ return to the bench in January did provide a temporary lift, but serious questions remain. Everton lost 3-0 to Bournemouth in their Premier League Summer Series debut last Friday. Before that, they were beaten 1-0 by Championship side Blackburn Rovers and held to a 1-1 draw by fourth division team Accrington Stanley.

West Ham also lost their preseason opener, but it was a much tighter 2-1 defeat to Manchester United.

The Hammers are the more stable team at the moment and should be able to capitalize on Everton’s weaknesses, especially at the back, where injuries have ruled out center-back duo James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite.

Pick: West Ham ML (+145)
