Miami Hurricanes 2026 Season Preview

The Miami Hurricanes enter 2026 looking to build on a remarkable 2025 that ended in a national title game appearance. The Canes went on a run through the College Football Playoff before falling to Indiana. Mario Cristobal enters his fifth year as head coach, now carrying the pressure of following up a title-game appearance.

The headline transfer is former Duke quarterback Darian Mensah, who replaces Carson Beck. He reunites with top target Cooper Barkate and joins a loaded skill group featuring Malachi Toney and 1,000-yard rusher Mark Fletcher Jr. However, a retooled offensive line, which loses four starters, remains a question mark.

Defensively, Corey Hetherman enters his second year as defensive coordinator and must replace NFL draft picks Rueben Bain Jr. and Akheem Mesidor up front. On a positive note, though, Missouri transfer Damon Wilson II adds pass-rush juice and six starters return overall.

Miami enters the season as one of the ACC's top betting favorites to win the ACC.

Miami Hurricanes Point Spreads

A spread bet is a bet on a team to win by at least a certain number of points (if favored) or lose by less than a certain number (if underdogs). Here's an example of one way that could look for Miami.

For a Miami spread bet to pay off, it would need to win by at least 22 points in the first example. Clemson backers, on the other hand, can win if the Tigers win outright or lose by three or fewer. All of these are known as "covering the spread." In the case of a whole number spread, if the favored team wins by that exact amount, bettors on both sides "push" (tie) and get their money back.

Miami Hurricanes Over/Unders

Over/unders (also known as totals) are bets on the combined scoring of both teams in a game. For a previous game against North Carolina, the total was set at a whopping 72 points. With the Hurricanes losing, 62-26, the combined 88 points between the teams made this an easy win for the over. Had the game finished with fewer than 72 points between the teams, under bettors would've won instead.

Had it been, say, 46-26, or any other score adding up to 72, the bet would have been a push and both bets would have been refunded.

Miami Hurricanes Moneylines

A moneyline, another popular type of bet, is just a straightforward wager on which team will win. Favored teams are given a minus sign before their odds, while underdog teams have a plus sign. This may seem confusing, but let's give an example using a hypothetical $100 wager.

If the Hurricanes were -200 favorites, a bettor would need to risk $200 for the chance to win $100 if Miami prevailed. If they were +200 underdogs, on the other hand, a $100 bet would give a $200 profit in the event of an upset.

How to Trade on Miami Hurricanes Odds

Beyond traditional sportsbooks, fans can trade on Miami outcomes through prediction markets like Kalshi and Polymarket.

Both platforms are broadly available in most states, including Florida, home of the Hurricanes. New users can check out the Polymarket promo code or the Kalshi promo code to get started.

Miami Hurricanes Props

Prop bets are listed in a similar fashion as over/unders, but instead of points scored by the teams, we're looking for statistics accumulated by a player. Darian Mensah's passing props and Mark Fletcher Jr.'s rushing props figure to be popular markets given their proven track records.

Miami Hurricanes Futures

Futures bets are bets on exactly that: the future. Paid out when the outcome is clear (for example, when the Heisman winner is announced), these bets take place over an entire season.

Some other examples of Hurricanes futures you could bet are the total number of wins on the season (Miami needs roughly 11-1 to hit the over per current markets), odds to win the ACC (Miami is a strong favorite), odds to take home the national title, and Darian Mensah's Heisman odds, which sit near the top of the board.
