Squads at Polymarket: How to Chat & Share Trades In-App With Friends
Polymarket Squads turns prediction market trading into a group activity by letting you build private chat rooms with friends.
- What you can do via Squads: chat, share trades, & copy positions you like
- How to access Squads: only available via the Polymarket US app (not the international version or desktop beta in the US)
I tried Squads as soon as it launched in early September 2026, and it's one of the more polished social features I've seen added to a prediction market app. This guide walks through exactly what Squads is, its key features, and how to set up your own squad step by step.
If you still need to register for an account to test out Squads, be sure to use our Polymarket referral code.
🤝 What Is Squads at Polymarket?
Squads is Polymarket's answer to the group-chat trading experience that sportsbooks have been building out for a few years now. As someone with a sports betting background, I noticed right away that it's borrowing heavily from Fanatics Sportsbook's Squads concept and adapting it for prediction markets instead of traditional bets.
Squads gives you a private, invite-only room where you and your friends can chat, share your trades, and react to moves in real time. It's essentially turns Polymarket into a shared experience rather than a solo one.
⭐ Key Features of Polymarket Squads
Squads packs a handful of social tools into one space, and each one adds a different layer to the group trading experience.
| 🔧 Feature | ✏️ What It Does |
|---|---|
| Group chat | Chat with your squad using text, emojis, GIFs, photos, and videos |
| Trade sharing | Post your own trades directly into the group so your squad can see your positions |
| Copy trading | Copy a trade a squad member shared if you want to take the same position |
| Flexible invites | Add friends by direct invite, username search, or contact syncing |
| Easy joining | Bring new members into an existing Squad via a shareable link or a scannable QR code |
| Customization | Rename your squad or change its group image at any time |
The copy trading tool is the standout for me. It's a low-friction way to follow a friend's read on a market without having to build the position from scratch yourself. Just don't get mad at your friend if the trade doesn't pan out the way you expected it to!
🛠️ How to Make a Polymarket Squad
Here's how I set up my Squads at Polymarket:
Step 1: Open the Squads Tab
Open the Polymarket app and tap the Squads tab. Keep in mind this only works on Polymarket US; the desktop version, currently in beta, doesn't have it yet.
Step 2: Invite Your Friends to Polymarket
If your friends aren't on Polymarket yet, the app will prompt you to invite them before you can add them to a squad. You can send invites through iMessage, WhatsApp, Instagram, Snapchat, or X, whichever is easiest to reach your group.
While you're at it, you should take advantage of Polymarket's refer-a-friend program when sending these invites, since you'll get rewarded for bringing new users to the platform.
Step 3: Tap Create Squad
Tap Create Squad and start adding members. You've got three ways to build your roster:
- Invite directly: send an invite link through one of the messaging apps above
- Search by username: find friends who are already active on Polymarket by typing in their usernames
- Sync your contacts: let the app show you which of your contacts are already on the app
Once you've selected everyone you want in the group, tap Create Squad again to finalize it.
Step 4: Customize and Share Your Squad
From your squad's screen, you can rename it or swap in a new group image to make it your own.
If you want to add more people later, share the group's invite link or have a friend scan the squad's QR code to join.
Step 5: Start Trading and Chatting
Once your squad is set up, you're ready to use it. Chat with emojis, GIFs, photos, and videos, and post your trades to the group so everyone can see what you're doing and react or copy along.
📈 Squads and the Push to Socialize Prediction Markets
Squads is part of a bigger shift happening across prediction markets right now. It only makes sense that prediction markets push a social environment to further expand their userbases.
Sportsbooks like Fanatics have already shown that group chat and shared trade visibility keep users engaged longer and coming back more often. Polymarket clearly took notes, and pairing Squads with a celebrity-driven campaign the size of Polymarket HQ suggests the company sees group trading as a way to stay competitive.
From my own time in the app, the social layer changes how the platform feels. Trading with a group in the background makes the experience feel closer to a group chat about the latest events rather than a solo finance app, which is likely exactly what Polymarket is going for.
As of September 2026, Squads is still exclusive to the Polymarket US app, so international users and desktop users will need to wait for a wider rollout.
Other prediction markets are socializing their platforms, and some look similar to Polymarket's strategy. For instance, Kalshi features these social features:
- A social feed
- Leaderboards
- Activity stream to track profit/volume
- Ability to follow top traders
- Ability to join "Inner Circles" for responsible trading
OG.com also has chat features and the ability to share positions, so it's good that Polymarket adopted its Squads when it did. If it had waited any longer, it would quickly fall behind in a prediction market space that's prioritizing community.
🏈 The Advertising Push Behind Polymarket Squads
Squads didn't launch quietly. Polymarket paired the feature's rollout with its "Polymarket HQ" 2026 football season campaign, and the two are clearly meant to work together to pull sports fans into group trading.
The campaign is fronted by a genuinely stacked list of sports names, including LeBron James, Derek Jeter, and Eli Manning. It's directed by Peter Berg, and the roster of appearances goes well beyond the three headliners:
- Spike Lee
- Alexandra Daddario
- John Leguizamo
- Craig Robinson
- Rajon Rondo
- Reggie Bush
- Sue Bird
- Richard Sherman
That's a lot of star power for a single feature launch, and it signals how seriously Polymarket is treating the social side of its product heading into football season.
