The Clippers and Lakers face off in another Staples Center showdown on Thursday night. Both teams have lost three of their last five games and need a win in the midst of a very crowded Western Conference playoff race.
The Lakers will be without their two most important playmakers in LeBron James and Dennis Schroder. With this passing deficiency, look for Anthony Davis to be the central hub of the offense.
In Monday's win over the Nuggets, Davis turned in an awesome two-way performance.
Davis finished with a stat line of 25 points, seven rebounds and three blocks in the win over Denver. It was a gritty performance in a low-scoring game, and it is even more impressive when you look at the Lakers' shot distribution in that game.
Davis shot 19 field-goal attempts and the next highest total for a Laker was Alex Caruso, who took nine shots on the evening.
Beating the Nuggets is one thing, but taking down the Clippers with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George is a completely different animal.
For the Lakers to have a chance at keeping things close on Thursday night, they will need a massive scoring effort from Davis and the best defensive performance of the season from the wings.
The Clippers are no strangers to inconsistencies, with Leonard and George often out of the lineup. On Thursday night they are slated to have both of their dynamic duo ready to go, which is obviously bad news for the Lakers.
Per StatMuse, the Clippers are 56-20 in games where both George and Leonard play.
While the Clippers are expected to win tonight's game, the key question is whether they will cover the 8.5-point spread.
And according to professional bettors, the answer is clear.
