Heat vs Warriors NBA Preview
This will be the second time these two teams play this season, but we expect to see Jimmy Butler active for the first time this year against his former team.
Earlier this season, the Heat handled the Warriors 110-96 in Miami, a game in which Butler, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green all sat.
Last season, the Heat outclassed Golden State 112-86 in Butler’s return to Miami, a tension-filled affair that resulted in a one-sided butt-whooping. This season, they’re on the same side of the coin, albeit for different reasons.
Both feel like teams that need to make a real move by the trade deadline to truly contend. Both feel like they could beat or lose to anyone on any given night.
While neither is likely to win its conference, each has the capability of pushing anyone in a playoff series — or getting wiped out due to a talent deficit.
For both teams, it could also be age: the collective lack thereof for the Heat, and perhaps too much of it on Golden State.
The Heat just beat OKC at home on Saturday, making them the only team in the NBA to beat both the Thunder and the Pistons so far this season.
Meanwhile, the Warriors have been playing better basketball after a shaky start and have now gone 11-4 over their last 15 games.
Injury report? You bet.
Tyler Herro (rib, toe, and God knows what else) is out to begin what will be a five-game road trip for the Heat. Terry Rozier will also sit due to his ongoing off-the-court issues (feds).
Both Davion Mitchell (shoulder) and Jaime Jaquez Jr. (ankle) are probable after missing two straight games.
For the Warriors, De’Anthony Melton (knee), Gui Santos (ankle) and Seth Curry (sciatica) are out. The aforementioned Green (ankle) is probable.
Heat vs Warriors Prediction, Betting Analysis
Okay, Bam Adebayo, we’re locked back in.
I apologize for playing your under last week — although I’ll take slight credit for helping spark the turnaround (not really).
We went from Bad Back Bam to seemingly PRP Bam, as the Heat’s captain has bounced back from his worst month in years to his best three-game stretch of the season.
The athleticism and shooting touch look recovered, the confidence appears restored, and the defense is still the defense.
The finishing has been better — even though he’s still shot below average from the field in two straight games — but Adebayo has generated more volume in three consecutive outings.
This isn’t just about shooting and hitting threes, although he is 13-for-23 from deep in this three-game sample. Adebayo has posted scoring lines of 29, 22 and 30 points, with shooting nights of 11-for-15, 8-for-19 and 9-for-22 overall.
He’s also gone 12-for-14 from the free-throw line during this stretch.
Bam has scored 19 or more points in six straight games against the Warriors.
He’s clearly trending upward, and he may take the Jimmy Butler matchup personally again, given that their relationship didn’t end on great terms when they were teammates.
Pick: Bam Adebayo Over 17.5 Points (-135)
