Suns vs. Thunder
Williams has had a tough year due to nagging injury issues, but he appears to be back at full strength ahead of Sunday's Oklahoma City Thunder-Phoenix Suns matchup. He appeared in all four regular-season meetings between these teams, despite only playing in 33 games.
Most of the eyes will be on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's scoring numbers when it comes to Thunder player prop bets, as the league's second-leading scorer on a points-per-game basis. He's averaging 30.0 points per game against Phoenix this season, but has fallen short of that mark twice in three matchups. Williams' point total offers more security.
The Santa Clara product logged more than 30 minutes for the first time since January against the Los Angeles Clippers earlier this month and has scored at least 23 points in his last two contests against Phoenix. He's bound to carry a heavy workload this postseason.
Williams averages 35.5 minutes per game (33 games) in the postseason for his career, and that's helpful when projecting his numbers for Sunday. His career playoff average of 20.3 points per 36 minutes is encouraging, even against the Suns' sturdy defense.
Phoenix will be dealing with fatigue after playing in the play-in games. Williams can take advantage of that and remind bettors how significant he is as OKC's second option on offense.
Pick: Jalen Williams Over 17.5 Points (-112)
Magic vs. Pistons
The Orlando Magic toppled the Charlotte Hornets to make the first round of the playoffs, but will now have to take on the Detroit Pistons. The Eastern Conference's top team hangs its hat on defense, and that doesn't bode well for Suggs' scoring production.
Suggs, who averaged 13.8 points per game during the regular season, is in a rut. The former Gonzaga Bulldog averaged 8.0 points on 35.3% shooting in the Magic's play-in games and will now face the league's third-best scoring defense on the road.
Suggs averaged 12.0 points per game against Detroit through four regular-season meetings and tallied 14 points twice in those matchups. However, Orlando was missing either Paolo Banchero or Franz Wagner in the two games in which he scored 14 points. Now they're both back in the rotation and ready to lead Orlando's offense.
Suggs will likely be more impactful as a rebounder and playmaker in Game 1.
Pick: Jalen Suggs Under 13.5 Points (-119)
Trail Blazers vs. Spurs
The San Antonio Spurs and Portland Trail Blazers faced off three times during the regular season this year, but Victor Wembanyama was ruled out for all three of those contests. The dynamic big man will likely make a huge impact on the glass in this matchup.
Portland has one of the league's premier rebounders in Donovan Clingan at its disposal, but he hasn't been enough to stop San Antonio from dominating down low in recent meetings.
The Spurs are averaging 50.0 rebounds per game against the Trail Blazers without Wemby. That's phenomenal, considering that the Houston Rockets lead the NBA with 48.1 rebounds per game. Wemby has been on a ridiculous tear as a rebounder and can light the opposition up on the boards.
Wembanyama has amassed 12 or more rebounds in eight of his previous 10 games and snared at least 15 boards six times during that span. He's a major reason why only Houston can top San Antonio's mark of 47.1 team rebounds per game.
The Spurs' franchise centerpiece appears set to take on a full workload and keep up his hot rebounding streak against Portland.
