Knicks vs Raptors NBA Preview

For all the concerns about their defense, this is the best stretch we’ve seen on that side of the ball for the Knicks this season.

To be supremely fair, though — consider the competition.

They blasted the Nets 120-66 last Wednesday and Sacramento 103-87 last night. Sandwiched in between was a 112-109 victory over the 76ers in Philly, which I personally think is their best win of the season so far.

The Knicks are just 2-4 on the second half of back-to-backs this season, with their two wins coming against the Wizards and Hornets at home on November 3 and December 3, respectively.

Their losses? The Magic on November 12, the 76ers on December 19, again on January 3, and in Golden State on January 15.

The Warriors game is the only one of those to be played on the road, making this the Knicks’ second “no rest” opportunity on the road this season and seventh overall.

The Knicks and Raptors are tied in the East, with New York leading the season series 2-0, including the NBA Cup quarterfinals. This is the third of five meetings between the two this season.

The Raptors are coming off a five-game road trip, opening with a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on January 18 before winning four straight — at Golden State, Sacramento, Portland and Oklahoma City (!!) — leading into tonight.

Toronto beat the Thunder 103-101 on Sunday, giving them a two-day rest advantage.

The Knicks are 4-4 straight up (3-5 ATS) with a rest disadvantage this season. Toronto is 6-3 straight up and 5-4 ATS with a rest advantage. Additionally, the Raptors are 4-2 with two-to-three days of rest and 3-3 ATS in that spot.

As of this morning, the Knicks have another clean injury report, but Mitchell Robinson could rest tonight, as he hasn’t been playing on the second night of back-to-backs and just logged consecutive games of 27 minutes each, including last night.

His season high? You guessed it — 27 minutes.

Collin Murray-Boyles (thumb) is questionable for Toronto. Jakob Poeltl (back) is out.

Knicks vs Raptors Predictions, Betting Analysis

Immanuel Quickley is facing the Jalen Brunson-led backcourt on back-to-back legs.

He’s over 21.5 points + assists in 13 of 17 games and is facing a defense that ranks 17th in the league overall.

The Knicks allow the fourth-most threes per 100 possessions and the eighth-highest percentage from deep, which should benefit even a team as two-point focused as the Raptors.

Toronto ranks just 24th in three-point attempts per 100 possessions at 34.1, yet attempted 37 and 38 threes against the Knicks in their two meetings this season.

Quickley is averaging 19.4 points and 6.0 assists over this 17-game stretch.

Picks: Immanuel Quickley Over 21.5 Points + Assists (-120) / To Record a Double-Double (+830)
