Magic vs Heat NBA Preview
Bam Adebayo could not quite match his historic performance on Thursday night after scoring the second-most points in NBA history against the Wizards.
While the Bucks celebrated holding him to 21 points, the Heat got the last laugh.
The Heat were playing without guards Tyler Herro and Norman Powell. However, Pelle Larson scored a career-high 28 on 9-for-14 from the field while Kasparas Jakucionis scored 18 points and knocked down five triples.
The Heat will continue on their homestand as they welcome the in-state rival Magic to Miami.
The Magic might have gotten a tougher game than expected on Thursday, as they needed overtime to beat the tanking Wizards. However, they prevailed 136-131 in overtime as three of their starters scored 20 points or more.
Surprisingly, one of them was not Paolo Banchero as he shot just 4-for-13 from the field. However, he still posted his fifth double-double in his last 10 games and he is averaging 24.9 points and 9.1 rebounds in that span.
Banchero has stepped up as Orlando continues to play without Franz Wagner, who has 35 of the team's last 39 games with an ankle injury. However, the Magic will enter this matchup having won their last six games.
Someone's losing streak will have to end, as the Heat have won their last seven games. They are also tied for the fifth seed, making tonight's game an important one with under a month remaining in the regular season.
The Magic have controlled the series, having the first four matchups this season. However, this will be just the second in Miami thus far.
In addition to Wagner, Orlando will be without Anthony Black and Jonathan Isaac. Meanwhile, Andrew Wiggins is out for Miami while Herro and Powell are both questionable.
Magic vs Heat Predictions, Betting Analysis
Jalen Suggs Over 15.5 Points
One player who has been a thorn in Miami's side of late is Jalen Suggs.
In the past five meetings, Suggs has averaged 20.2 points per game against the Heat. He has scored 16 points and knocked down two 3-pointers in four of those games.
The 3-ball may be at his disposal once again, as Miami gives up the most 3-point attempts and third-most makes to point guards.
Suggs has cleared this line in three of his last five games. Three of have been without Black and Wagner and he has gone over 20 points twice.
He should be able to get at least 16 points in this matchup.
Desmond Bane 20+ Points
Joining him may be his backcourt mate, Desmond Bane.
Bane has scored 20 points in four of his last six games against Miami. That includes 37 in the NBA Cup quarterfinal to send Orlando to Las Vegas.
He enters this matchup with 20 points in seven of his last 10 games.
Bam Adebayo 8+ Rebounds
Adebayo is averaging 9.5 rebounds over his last 12 games against Orlando.
He has recorded eight rebounds in eight of those games, including six straight meetings.
Magic +7.5
The Magic are 7-3 over the last 10 meetings between these two teams.
While the Heat are favorites tonight, just one of their victories has been by eight points or more.
I like the Magic to stay within 7.5 points tonight, particularly if Herro and Powell get ruled out.
