Suns vs Spurs NBA Preview
My outlook on the game factors in Grayson Allen being listed as questionable.
Allen didn't play the second leg of a back-to-back against the Timberwolves last night — but he was asked in the locker room Monday after the Celtics game and was asked if he expected to return in the next game, and he said yes.
He mentioned his knee went into some weird flexion. It was kind of interesting hearing him talk about the physiology of it. He said it felt scary in the moment — but ultimately it was fine, and he expected to play the next game.
However, Allen didn't play in the next game — but he's also been missing the second half of back-to-backs in general lately.
That's been more of a Suns thing, as he's dealt with a few nagging injuries, including some ankle issues over the past few weeks. So, sitting him felt more precautionary than anything serious.
Seeing Allen listed as questionable here, it does seem likely that he plays. He's an important piece against a Spurs team that protects the paint well. The Suns are going to want another elite shooter out there.
If Phoenix has Collin Gillespie, Devin Booker, and Royce O'Neale in addition to Allen all spacing the floor around Victor Wembanyama, it sets up an offense that can generate a high volume of threes.
Suns vs Spurs Predictions, Betting Analysis
I'll take the Over at 226.5 total points in tonight's game, I wouldn't be surprised if that number gets steamed upward.
We've seen a lot of steam in Spurs games recently. Their game against the Clippers opened at 223.5 and moved 11 points to the closing number of 234.5 — even without Kawhi Leonard.
So, with the Spurs consistently drawing over steam, and the Suns potentially getting another shooter back, I'll take the Over tonight.
Pick: Over 226.5 (-110)
