Spurs vs Hornets NBA Preview

The Hornets are my favorite League Pass team this season. If you watch or listen to our Buckets podcast, you already know that.

The Spurs are not far behind — top-five, for sure, probably even higher than that.

This game got bumped up to noon ET because of pending weather conditions.

Charlotte arrives into this game among the hottest teams in the NBA.

The Hornets rank 1st in the league in net rating this month at 12.0. Second place is way down at +7.5, which is the Pistons, or at least that's where they sat prior to their matchup against the Warriors last night.

The Hornets rank first in offense and fifth in defense in the month of January. They also arrive into this game having won five games in a row.

The Spurs have been flying under the radar lately, but they're still damn good. They come into Saturday with wins in 5-of-7 games and boast the second-best defense of January.

The Hornets will be without Mason Plumlee (groin) and KJ Simpson (hip). Josh Green (Achilles) is probable.

The Spurs will only be missing Jeremy Sochan (groin).

Spurs vs Hornets Predictions, Betting Analysis

I haven't played a bunch of totals, but I like the Under here.

The game being moved up three hours probably doesn't help the Over much, but more to the point outlined earlier, this is mainly about the level of defense we've seen from both squads this month.

Nobody has played to more Unders than the Spurs this season, with 30-of-48 games going Under, tied with the Pacers for the most — albeit for very different reasons.

The Hornets have played to the sixth-most Unders this season (29-of-49), and they've played to the Under in 9-of-15 games in the month of January.

Pick: Under 225.5 (-110)
