I think there's enough to go around.

In a historic win, two fortunate Powerball players from Missouri and Texas have secured the $1.787 billion jackpot.

This prize is now the second-largest in U.S. lottery history. Both winners matched all six numbers on Saturday: 11, 23, 44, 61, 62, and the red Powerball 17. The Power Play® multiplier stood at 2.

The Powerball jackpot reached $1.787 billion after final ticket sales were tallied, placing it just behind the world-record $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot won in California on November 7, 2022.

Matt Strawn, Powerball Product Group Chair and Iowa Lottery CEO, extended his congratulations to the winners and lauded the Missouri Lottery and Texas Lottery for selling the winning tickets. Strawn highlighted the dual benefit of Powerball tickets, which offer a shot at life-changing prizes while also funding critical public programs and services.

Powerball Drawings Offer Several Prize Options for Winners

The winners face a crucial decision: select either an annuity or a lump sum payment.

The annuitized prize is valued at $893.5 million, distributed as one immediate payment followed by 29 increasing annual payments. Alternatively, they can opt for a one-time cash payment of $410.3 million. Both options are before taxes.

Powerball officials urge players nationwide to check their tickets carefully, as substantial cash prizes are available even for matching parts of the winning combination.

The recent drawing saw over 9.9 million tickets win various cash prizes.

Celebrating the Victory with Millions in Prizes

Eighteen tickets nationwide claimed $1 million by matching all five white balls.

These winning tickets were sold in California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, and West Virginia.

Saturday night’s Powerball drawing was the 42nd drawing since the jackpot was previously won in California on May 31, 2025 - setting a new game record for the longest jackpot run.

It's important to point out that two tickets used the Power Play® option, doubling their prize to $2 million. These were sold in Kansas and Texas.

Additional prizes included 232 tickets winning $50,000 (Match 4 + PB) and 90 tickets winning $100,000 (Match 4 + PB + Power Play).

Record-Setting Run Ends as Second-Biggest Jackpot Ever

Saturday's Powerball drawing marked the 42nd since the last jackpot was claimed on May 31, 2025, setting a new record for the game's longest jackpot run.

If you're wondering, here are the five largest Powerball jackpots of all time exceed $1 billion.
  1. $2.04 billion (November 7, 2022): A single ticket purchased by Edwin Castro in Altadena, California, won this record-breaking prize.
  2. $1.787 billion (September 6, 2025) Two tickets won the jackpot. One sold in Texas and the other in Missouri.
  3. $1.765 billion (October 11, 2023): A group of winners represented by Theodorus Struyck won the prize with a ticket sold in Frazier Park, California.
  4. $1.586 billion (January 13, 2016): This prize was split between three tickets sold in California, Florida, and Tennessee. It was the first lottery jackpot to exceed $1 billion.
  5. $1.326 billion (April 6, 2024): A single winning ticket was sold in Portland, Oregon

The jackpot now resets to $20 million for the upcoming draw, which is tonight. The 10X Power Play® multiplier will be available due to the lower advertised jackpot.

What a run. But now it's over, it's time to start building the next record Powerball jackpot.
