The Green Valley Ranch Resort Casino in Henderson, Nevada, closed its doors due to COVID-19 shutdowns in March 2020 before reopening a few months later in early June. But as part of the social distancing protocols that were in effect at the time, the casino's poker room remained closed. And even after those protocols were eventually lifted and business returned to normal in Nevada, the poker room did not return.

Until now.

Green Valley Ranch Poker Room Finally Reopens

Before its closure, the poker room at Green Valley Ranch was a popular off-Strip option for both locals and tourists alike. The casino is hoping that it can pick up where it left off after re-launching a new and improved version of the room this week.

Poker players in Henderson will enjoy the following features and promotions at Green Valley Ranch this month:

  • 16 brand new tables, almost doubling the number available prior to closing
  • Wide variety of games offered, including Limit and No-Limit Texas Hold'em, Pot Limit Omaha, and Omaha Hi-Lo
  • 24/7 availability
  • A mystery high-hand promotion running through January 1, in which guests will have the chance to win between $50-$500 every half-hour and be entered into a drawing to win $5,000 on New Year's Day

The new poker room is just one of the many improvements being rolled out in the Green Valley Ranch's $200 million renovation project. The property is in the process of upgrading its lobbies, casino floor, and all of its double-queen rooms, king rooms, and suites.

"Every room and suite has been completely reimagined with bespoke finishes," said Ken Janssen, vice president and general manager of Green Valley Ranch. "Refined design and thoughtful touches that cater to the discerning modern traveler."

As many land-based casinos in Las Vegas undergo similar multi-million dollar renovations, Green Valley Ranch is hopeful that these upgrades will help make the property a go-to destination moving forward. The renovation project began this year and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

Outlook for Poker in 2026 and Beyond

Seeing Green Valley Ranch invest in live poker is a great sign for the future of the game. With this reopening, the Las Vegas area now has a total of 21 full-time active poker rooms.
