Ravens vs Vikings Week 10 Preview

I’m backing the Ravens to cover the first-half spread against the Vikings — and the stats strongly support it.

Under John Harbaugh, the Ravens are exceptional with extra preparation: they are 62% against the first-half spread overall, 12-5 against the spread (ATS) on the road, and 10-3 ATS as a road favorite in the first half when coming off extra rest — covering by an average of a field goal per game. That’s insane.

Then, there’s Lamar Jackson, who is one of the best quarterbacks in the first half in recent memory. He’s 61-36-2 against the first-half spread (63%), covering by more than a field goal per game as a favorite.

As a road favorite, Jackson is 28-10-1 ATS (74%), winning by an average margin of five points in the first half.

Extra time to prepare, extra time for Jackson to heal up, and extra time for Harbaugh to scheme.

Baltimore’s offense is fully healthy and at full strength. The Ravens can run how they ran last year. The defense is also as close to full strength as it’s been all year.

The only question mark is the defensive line, where the team could have used another acquisition before the trade deadline, like they added Dre'Mont Jones — but that’s less of an issue today against Minnesota.

The Vikings rank in the bottom 10 in both EPA per rush and rush success rate, not to mention Aaron Jones is banged up.

Ravens vs Vikings Prediction, Betting Analysis

The Ravens are blitzing often to generate pressure, which could be bad news for Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who has struggled against the blitz. That’s a key mismatch, especially early in the game when teams are still adjusting to Lamar Jackson's speed and improvisation.

The Vikings love to blitz as well — and that’s dangerous against Jackson.

This season, Jackson's faced the seventh-highest blitz rate in the NFL and has absolutely shredded it: 79% completion rate (highest in the league), seven touchdowns, one interception, second-highest yards per attempt and fourth-highest average depth of target.

The Ravens also rank first in explosive run percentage, while Minnesota’s defense struggles to contain big plays on the ground.

All signs point to Baltimore’s offense finding early success.

Reports from around the team suggest a renewed sense of urgency and confidence. With Jackson healthy, the game plan should be aggressive from the start.

McCarthy, meanwhile, looked fine last week, but much of that performance was aided by Detroit’s offensive line injuries and inability to handle pressure.

The Vikings offense remains limited, and their defense hasn’t been consistent enough to compensate.

Baltimore’s versatility with heavy sets should bode well in this spot, and the extra prep time also gives John Harbaugh an edge, especially considering Jackson has already shredded defensive coordinator Brian Flores’ blitz schemes in past matchups.

Pick: Ravens 1H Spread -2.5 (-110)
