Chelsea vs. Newcastle United
Newcastle produced a lackluster display in the Tyne-Wear Derby last weekend, failing to create a meaningful chance in a 1-0 defeat to Sunderland.
The Magpies are unbeaten in their previous five home matches in the Premier League and have scored two goals in all of those matches. In fact, Newcastle has scored in all eight of its league games at St. James’s Park this season, with those matches seeing an average of three goals overall.
Chelsea beat Everton 2-0 in its last league outing, but Enzo Maresca’s post-match outburst grabbed the headlines. Newcastle can provide more of an attacking threat than the Toffees, so this game could prove to be an end-to-end affair, given that both clubs are going through a somewhat turbulent period off the pitch.
Both teams have scored in five of the last seven head-to-head meetings, with those matches averaging three goals.
Pick: Both Teams To Score – Yes & Over 2.5 Goals
West Ham United vs. Manchester City
West Ham is preparing for life without its AFCON-bound players, as they'll be without Aaron Wan-Bissaka and El Hadji Malick Diouf at full-back.
The Hammer's full-backs are crucial to how the team operates. The width, how they supplement attacks, and the recovery runs in transition are all key to Nuno Espirito Santo’s side. Without them, West Ham is considerably worse as a defensive and offensive force.
With the likes of Jeremy Doku and Phil Foden hitting form, led by Erling Haaland through the middle, the visitors' prospects in the upcoming match look bleak. No team has scored more second-half goals than Manchester City’s 19 in 2025/26. The Citizens have also scored 19 first-half goals, which is five more than the second-best in this metric, Manchester United.
The full-back areas will be key to City’s success. As the game progresses into the second half, it’s hard to imagine City failing to repeatedly find joy in the wide areas by utilizing its superior quality on both flanks.
Pick: Man City to Win & Man City to Score in Both Halves
Sunderland vs. Brighton & Hove Albion
The heavily favored Brighton faces the dark horse of the Premier League in a match that might not be as one-sided as the odds predict. Sunderland’s win over Newcastle places them above their competitors and shows how dangerous they can be.
Régis Le Bris’ team doesn’t excel offensively, and with 13.3 xG (expected goals), they have accumulated the lowest xG in the Premier League so far. The Black Cats also failed to score in five away games.
However, Brighton’s defensive frailties, evidenced by the 1.38 goals conceded per home game, are reason to believe this season’s biggest surprise can find at least one goal. Consequently, we are backing the hosts along with goals on both ends.
Pick: Brighton to Win and Both Teams to Score – Yes
Liverpool vs. Tottenham
Arne Slot has come under fire this season, but wins over Inter and Brighton have arrested the slump. The decision to leave Mohamed Salah out of the starting 11 in consecutive fixtures prompted a tirade from the legendary Egyptian, but Liverpool has responded well on the pitch. Salah has now gone off to the AFCON, so Hugo Ekitike will be even more vital.
Ekitike made a fast start to his Liverpool career, scoring in his first three competitive matches for the club. With Salah absent and Alexander Isak still finding his feet at his new club, the French striker is set to be Liverpool’s main attacking outlet in the weeks to come, making his odds to score in this one very appealing. Hugo Ekitike has scored 10 goals in 23 appearances for Liverpool.
Thomas Frank’s position as Tottenham boss is seriously under threat ahead of this game. His team has just one win in its last seven league outings, leaving it 11th in the table. Tottenham has conceded an average of 2.2 goals per game across its previous five league outings, and there will be plenty of opportunities for Ekitike to score here.
Pick: Hugo Ekitike Anytime Goal Scorer
Arsenal vs. Everton
After a 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge, Everton hosts league leaders Arsenal at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, determined to remain top of the standings on Christmas Day.
Arsenal have lost only two matches this year and have a perfect record in the Champions League. However, they often struggle against teams that defend on a low block, and Everton is one of those.
The Gunners had to work harder than expected last weekend to secure a win against bottom-placed Wolves. Mikel Arteta's men have recently faltered, with draws against Chelsea and Sunderland and a loss to Villa in their last six league games.
Everton have won two of their last three home matches, but Arsenal have scored in every away game this season except their visit to Liverpool. It’s hard to imagine a high-scoring affair, and the most likely outcome is a narrow victory for the visitors.
