Tottenham vs Manchester City Best Bet: Expect Goals Galore in High Firepower Matchup
Manchester City started the new season by giving signs of a revival, following arguably its worst season under head coach Pep Guardiola, romping to a 4-0 away win against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Still, they come to their first big-six clash with a lot of questions. The Citizens have won just four of their last 12 Premier League clashes with Tottenham. Only Liverpool has beaten Guardiola more often than the Lilywhites.
It all comes together for a promising game from the neutral standpoint, as the last four clashes between these two have produced 21 goals. Guardiola's men should have enough to beat the opposition, but it shouldn't be as smooth a game as their league debut.
Pick: Over 3.5 Goals (+120)
Aston Villa vs Brentford: Back Villains to Return to Winning Ways
Both teams arrive at this one with a point to prove, as neither was able to pick up three points in their season opener, but the home team, Brentford, has a lot on its plate at the moment. The departures of Bryan Mbeumo, Christian Norgaard, and Mark Flekken — as well as head coach Thomas Frank — had many predicting a tough season for the Bees, and a 3-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest in the opener seemed to prove it.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa did well to hold Newcastle United to 0-0 with 10 men, and will look to get back to scoring ways. It's a likely scenario, given Brentford's home of Gtech Community Stadium saw 75 goals scored last season, the most of any venue.
With the Bees failing to beat Aston Villa in any of their last six encounters and never keeping a clean sheet against the Birmingham outfit, there are very few arguments to expect anything but a solid win for Unai Emery's team.
Pick: Aston Villa to Win and Over 2.5 Goals (+234)
Wolverhampton Wanderders vs Bournemouth: Red Hot Semenyo Leads the Charge
Antoine Semenyo proved a revelation for Bournemouth on their opening day, scoring twice inside eight minutes to bring the Cherries back from two goals down against defending champions Liverpool. Even if his efforts proved ultimately futile, as Liverpool took the win in the last minutes of the match, we're backing the 25-year-old to find the back of the net again.
Wolverhampton proved they have some trouble stopping goals in their opener against Manchester City, but it was hardly unexpected. The Wolves have won just once in their last 22 Premier League games in August.
With Bournemouth showing plenty of flair and having the upper hand in the head-to-head with four wins in their last six meetings, we're backing Semenyo to inspire his new team once again.
Pick: Antoine Semenyo Anytime Goalscorer (+185)
Leeds vs Arsenal: Leeds to Sell Defeat Dearly
A team that is vying for the title and won’t settle for anything less can’t afford to falter here. Arsenal might still be adapting to the new additions and finding its pace, but their overall quality and depth should see them win easily.
Still, the Gunners looked awkward on matchday one. They allowed United 1.52 xG from a total of 22 shots, and generated just 1.31xG from nine shots, with Riccardo Calafiori’s goal accounting for 0.908 of that figure.
Leeds was the highest-scoring team last season, with 95 goals, and will hope that their impressive display in the Championship translates to the Premier League. They achieved a 2.13 xG against Everton, but only scored from a penalty. They might not be able to match United’s efforts, but could still pose a threat for the Gunners
