Storm vs. Mercury Preview

The Seattle Storm are a team I'm going to be all over this season. The market seems to be low on them due to the loss of Jewell Loyd, but if you look through impact stats from last season, you'll see that Loyd wasn't nearly the positive impact her reputation would lead bettors to believe. And that's even before getting to the chemistry part of the question, where things were rocky to say the least.

Seattle still has one of the best starting lineups in the W, with Skylar Diggins (no longer "-Smith"), Nneka Ogwumike and Ezi Magbegor now joined by a full season of Gabby Williams, one of the most underrated players in the league. Lexie Brown is also now in town and looks to be a perfect fit in that 2-guard spot.

The Phoenix Mercury, on the other hand, completely reshuffled their roster this offseason. It was much for the better as they brought in of the best 10 players in the league in Satou Sabally and Alyssa Thomas, but I have lots of questions about how quickly this "Big Three" (along with the returning Kahleah Copper) will gel. I also have MASSIVE questions about their depth.

That depth may be tested this weekend as Copper and Natasha Mack both missed practice on Thursday — a very worrying sign for a team that can't afford to be down a single player, let alone two starters.

Best Bet: Storm Moneyline
