Week 13 NFL Injuries

While Week 12 was a relatively quiet week for injuries overall, there were several key injuries to track. As always, be sure to check back throughout the week as this page is updated with the latest news and information.

Latest On NFL Injuries

Sunday NFL Injury Report

Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa (thumb): Tua is expected to be back under center for Miami on Sunday after Ryan Fitzpatrick started in Week 12. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Tagovailoa took the majority of first-team reps in practice this week in anticipation of his return.

Falcons WR Julio Jones (hamstring) and RB Todd Gurley (knee): After missing Week 12, both Jones and Gurley are expected to be back in the lineup today against the Saints. On Friday, Jones declared himself healthy, saying that his hamstring injury was behind him, while Gurley is expected to play despite sitting out practice on both Thursday and Friday.

Bears WR Allen Robinson (knee): Robinson was a late week addition to the Bears injury report, popping up on Friday as a limited practice participant due to a knee injury. Listed as questionable, Robinson is expected to play against the Lions.

Lions RB D’Andre Swift (illness): Swift is now clear of the concussion protocol after missing the Lions’ last two games, but the team downgraded him to doubtful on Saturday while he recovers from an illness.

Expect Adrian Peterson and Kerryon Johnson to split the backfield work once again.

Giants QB Daniel Jones (hamstring): Jones was able to return to practice as a limited participant on Friday, but he’s expected to miss Week 13 while the Giants turn to Colt McCoy at quarterback. The Giants promoted backup QB Clayton Thorson from its practice squad on Saturday, another indication that the team is not expecting Jones to be available.

Friday NFL Injury Report

Falcons WR Julio Jones (hamstring): Jones is officially questionable to play against the Saints after getting in a limited practice session on Friday. Jones’ practice participation is a good sign since he was unable to practice last Friday before ultimately being ruled out for Week 12. Jones said Friday's practice "went well." He added: "At this point right now, the hamstring is behind me. I’m healthy, and I’m ready to go."

Raiders RB Josh Jacobs (hip): Jacobs has been held out of practice all week after being limited to only 10 touches in the Raiders’ Week 12 blowout loss to the Falcons. The former first-round pick has now been officially ruled out for Week 13, making Devontae Booker the likely lead back for Las Vegas this week. When asked whether Jacobs is expected to return in Week 14, head coach John Gruden was noncommittal: "I was optimistic (he) would be able to play Sunday, but I was wrong. I’ve been wrong a lot lately."

Lions WR Kenny Golladay (hip): Although interim head coach Darrell Bevell seemed optimistic about Golladay’s return earlier on Friday, the Lions' WR1 has been officially ruled out for the fifth consecutive game. Bevell had said of Golladay earlier in the day: "He’s a super competitive guy. He wants to be out there for his teammates, he wants to be out there playing ball for himself." Danny Amendola — who sat out Detroit’s last two games — is expected to be available against the Bears.

Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire (illness): Edwards-Helaire has missed the past two practices with a stomach virus and is officially questionable to play against the Broncos. With that being said, head coach Andy Reid sounded like he expects CEH to be available when talking to local media on Friday: "We think we’re going to get him back."

Thursday NFL Injury Report

Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa (thumb): Miami’s Week 13 quarterback situation remained unclear Thursday after Tagovailoa was once again limited in practice. When asked who the team would start this weekend, head coach Brian Flores was noncommittal in his answer to local media: "It’s Thursday. I know you guys want to know now if he’s playing, not playing. But we’ve got two days of practice and like always, we’ll make the best decision for the team."

Lions RB D’Andre Swift (illness): Swift has been held out of Detroit's last two games with a concussion and his backfield mate Adrian Peterson had some concerning comments Thursday as he updated the rookie’s status. Specifically, Peterson told reporters that Swift "hasn’t been himself" and "hasn't had the same energy level" since being placed into the concussion protocol on Nov. 19. However, a subsequent report from Lions senior writer Tim Twentyman stated that Swift has now cleared the concussion protocol after meeting with an independent neurological consultant. Swift was held out of Thursday’s practice, but his listed injury has been changed from "concussion" to "illness." Per Twentyman, the illness is "not related to COVID."

Wednesday NFL Injury Report

Vikings WR Adam Thielen (COVID-19): After missing last week while on the Reserve/COVID-19 List, Thielen appears likely to return to action after the Vikings activated him from the reserve list this afternoon. Thielen produced both positive and negative test results last week, leading to his placement on the reserve list, but he has presumably strung together multiple negative tests since that time, making him eligible to be activated.

49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk (COVID-19): The 49ers will also get one of their top receivers back from the Reserve/COVID-19 list, as Aiyuk was activated from the reserve list on Wednesday. Aiyuk was starting to hit his stride before missing Week 12, posting receiving yardage totals of 115, 91 and 75 over Weeks 7-10.

Falcons WR Julio Jones (hamstring): Jones was held out of the Falcons' Week 12 beatdown of the Raiders, but he should have a chance to play in Week 13. Head coach Raheem Morris described Jones as "day-to-day" before Jones was able to get in a limited practice session this afternoon. Morris added that the team is "hoping" to get Jones back for this weekend's matchup against New Orleans.

Monday NFL Injury Report

Giants QB Daniel Jones (hamstring): An MRI performed Monday revealed that Jones is dealing with a minor hamstring strain that will put his Week 13 status in jeopardy, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Per RapSheet's report, Jones has not yet been ruled out of New York’s upcoming matchup with the Seahawks, but he’s considered to have only an “outside chance” of playing. For the time being, consider McCoy as the Giants' likely starter in Week 13.

Raiders RB Josh Jacobs (ankle): Jacobs sprained his ankle in yesterday’s blowout loss to the Falcons, and further testing done on Monday revealed the Raiders running back sprained his ankle.

Jacobs reportedly “has a chance” to play in Week 13 depending on how his ankle responds in practice later this week, and he should be considered questionable to play this weekend for the time being. Devontae Booker would likely assume lead-back duties in the event Jacobs is unable to suit up this weekend.
