The second round of the 2026 US Open gets underway on Friday at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, New York.

Wyndham Clark leads at 6-under par after the opening round. But, of course, the tournament remains wide open with three days remaining.

Here are my picks and US Open Round 2 best bets.

US Open Round 2 Best Bets

Tommy Fleetwood Top-20 (-142 at DraftKings)

Tommy Fleetwood put together a solid opening round. He enters Friday at T18 at even-under par, and at -142, he is worth backing to record his third consecutive top-20 finish.

Driving is essential this week — the course is long and extremely penal if players miss the fairway, making both distance and accuracy critical for success.

Thick, rough and knee-high fescue surrounds the course, making precise approach shots into its challenging green complexes extremely difficult if you hit a poor drive. That setup makes Fleetwood a strong option this week.

He is one of the best drivers of the golf ball in the world, mostly due to his elite accuracy. On the PGA Tour, he ranks in the 94th percentile in strokes gained: off the tee and 96th percentile in driving accuracy.

Russell Henley Top-20 (-102 at DraftKings)

Another golfer worth targeting in this market is Russell Henley — tied with Fleetwood at T18. He still has two holes to finish from the opening round on Friday morning, including the relatively easier par-3 17th.

Like Fleetwood, Henley fits this course well.

Entering this week, he ranks in the 86th percentile on the PGA Tour in strokes gained: off the tee. Henley also enters this week in good form, with a victory at the Charles Schwab Challenge and T3 finish at the Masters.

As noted above, the greens are difficult to navigate. They feature significant undulation and are expected to play firm and fast in summer conditions.

Henley has proven capable on challenging greens, ranking in the 85th percentile on the PGA Tour in strokes gained: putting. He performs well across all key putting ranges (2-5 feet, 5-30 feet and 30-plus feet), ranking in the top quarter of the Tour in each.
