The second round of the 2026 WM Phoenix Open gets underway on Friday at TPC Scottsdale in Arizona.

Chris Gotterup leads the WM Phoenix Open after the first round at 8-under par. He holds a two-stroke lead over the rest of the field, but the tournament remains wide open with three days remaining.

Here are my picks for WM Phoenix Open Round 2 best bets for Friday.

WM Phoenix Open Round 2 Odds, Best Bets

Scottie Scheffler Top 20 (-115 at DraftKings)

By Scottie Scheffler’s standards, the opening round couldn't have gone much worse. He sits 10 strokes off the lead at 2-over par, but if he rebounds Friday and makes the cut, he still has ample time to climb the leaderboard.

It is worth noting that Scheffler’s price in the top-20 market was nearly -1000 before the tournament began. Did an opening-round 73 hurt his outlook? Absolutely.

Still, Scheffler has more than enough firepower to shoot a 68 or better on Friday, which would put him inside the projected cut line. Last year, he shot 68 or lower in both the second and third rounds.

Repeating that this week would give him a realistic path to the top 20 with a strong final round. For a golfer who has won this tournament twice, that outcome is well within reach.

Jordan Smith Top 20 (+385 at DraftKings)

Another golfer worth targeting in the top-20 market is Jordan Smith, who enters Friday T38 at 1-under par. He is just two shots outside the top 20, with several factors working in his favor.

First, Smith was among the final golfers to tee off Thursday during the second wave. As the course firmed up throughout the day, the afternoon wave faced noticeably tougher conditions than the morning groups and, on average, scored nearly a stroke worse.

The good news for Smith is that the tee times flip on Friday. He will now play in the morning, when conditions should be softer, setting him up well after a solid showing Thursday afternoon.

Smith’s success in his first appearance at this venue isn't surprising given his strength off the tee. He has gained true strokes off the tee in five of his past six tournaments.

Driving performance is critical at TPC Scottsdale. Last year, each of the top three finishers ranked 17th or better in the field in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee.

No other strokes-gained category showed a similar trend.
