Week 10 in the National Lacrosse League kicks off with a matchup between the Georgia Swarm and Colorado Mammoth in Denver. We had our best weekend last week as my picks went 5-1, bringing the season record to 25-15 for +8.65 units. Let’s start off another weekend right with a play on the moneyline in Friday’s lone matchup.

The winless Swarm are seeking their first win of the season against the defending champions, who are trying to keep pace in the West Conference. The Mammoth enter as 1.5-point favorites, despite starting goaltender and 2022 NLL Finals MVP Dillon Ward landing on the injured reserve last weekend.

This game is one I’ve had my sights on for three weeks ever since the Georgia Swarm fell to the Buffalo Bandits, 11-9. Despite the loss, the Swarm looked as good as they had all season thanks in large part to rookie goaltender Brett Dobson.

Not only did Dobson make 46 saves and post a 80.7% save percentage, he allowed this Swarm defense to play more aggressively and push in transition. I think his impact will be felt in this game as this Swarm defense will face a Mammoth offense that has struggled all season, averaging just 9.4 goals per game and has relied heavily on their defense to keep them in games.

On the flip side, the Mammoth defense has played well, but the loss of Dillon Ward is a big one, especially considering Georgia’s biggest strength lies in its Lyle Thompson-led offense.

While Tyler Carlson played well enough in relief of Ward last week, he’s still a downgrade from the franchise’s longtime netminder and this Colorado offense doesn’t inspire enough confidence that they can outscore the Swarm in a shootout.

I think this is a great spot to back the Swarm to get their first win of the season and like betting them on them on the moneyline (+150 on bet365).

Pick: Georgia Swarm ML
