Pistons vs Celtics NBA Preview

Because of the NBA Cup, it feels like we haven't seen these teams in forever.

The Celtics are not quite 60-win good anymore, but they are exceeding a 60-win pace in their recent showings.

The 2024 NBA Champs won 10-of-12 before inexplicably losing to the Bucks on December 11, 116-101, who were without Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Pistons still have the best record in the Eastern Conference, at 20-5, and will be looking for revenge for their dramatic 117-114 loss to the Celtics in Boston on November 26.

Detroit won 13 in a row heading into that game, and earlier this year, they did score a victory over the Celtics, 119-113, in Detroit on October 26.

The Pistons have won 5-of-6, but their record will be tested as they embark on a run of eight of their next 10 games on the road.

On the injury report, the Celtics are only missing Jayson Tatum (Achilles). And the Pistons are all good to go.

Pistons vs Celtics Prediction, Betting Analysis

Jordan Walsh over 13.5 points + rebounds grabbed my attention.

The match-up isn't the most favorable, but that's countered by this number just being a little too low.

Walsh is over 13.5 PR in six straight. And even in the aforementioned win over Detroit three weeks ago, he was at 13, right in range. The minutes have been there: He has played 26 minutes or more in four straight and in six of eight.

No, I'm not anticipating the 20 and eight he had against Milwaukee last game, or the 17 and four against the Lakers, or the 22 and 7 against Washington — these are the Pistons.

That said, can you see why I think 13.5 is just a little too low?

I also like Duncan Robinson over 1.5 assists. He showed in Miami that, beyond the shooting, he's actually a decent connector who could even hit rolling bigs with a bounce pass in the pocket for an easy finish at the rim on occasion.

Robinson had three assists last time he was in Boston, and has dished out two or more in 10-of-15 games. This came with some juice at -145, but I think it's worth it up to around -150.

Picks: Jordan Walsh Over 13.5 Points + Rebounds (-124), Duncan Robinson Over 1.5 Assists (-139)
