The NBA’s Subway Series starts back up on Monday night when the Knicks take on the Nets in Brooklyn.
Brooklyn has been in a solid groove as of late, winning four-straight games before its Easter Sunday loss to the new-look Bulls in Chicago. In that loss at the United Center, the frontcourt of LaMarcus Aldridge and Blake Griffin was solid offensively, but didn’t do enough to help the Nets’ defense.
Brooklyn allowed Chicago to shoot 55.1% from the field and 36.4% from the 3-point line on Sunday afternoon. Being without MVP candidate James Harden and Kevin Durant obviously has an effect on the Nets, but they have dealt with these inconsistent lineups all season long, making their eight-point loss against a -2.5 line a bit more shocking.
The Knicks have lost three of their last five games but still sit as the No. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference. Head Coach Tom Thibodeau has had this New York group playing with a ton of confidence all season long, specifically first-time All-Star Julius Randle.
Randle has been an inside-out scoring force this season, helping New York greatly outperform Vegas expectations with a 28-21-1 against the spread (ATS) record.
If the Knicks hope to keep things close at the Barclays Center, giving Randle ample time and, more importantly, space to attack Brooklyn’s lumbering bigs will go a long way towards helping them achieve their goal.
Our latest PRO Report suggests that sharp bettors don’t have much faith in the Knicks executing their gameplan on Monday night.
