I love both of these defenses, we get a big bump from the Ohio State pace (dead last, slower than Army) and Miami barely plays any faster (29.8 seconds between plays, 129th). Miami hasn’t allowed more than 20 points in regulation in seven straight games. Ohio State’s defense is probably the best in the country. You can’t create explosives, they tackle at an elite level, disguise at an elite level, make it nearly impossible to methodically drive the ball or score in the red zone. One of the lowest red zone score rate allowed in the last five years, only 33% of red zone drives are finishing in the paint. Under porn is built on 27 yard field goal attempts, oh and BTW Miami’s kicker is struggling, Carter Davis went 1-for-4 on FGs in College Station. I also like 1Q under. Ohio State Buckeyes 2025 Season Preview

The Ohio State Buckeyes enter the 2025 season as defending national champions, poised to defend their title with a roster brimming with talent and potential. Despite the departure of key players to the NFL, the Buckeyes have replenished their ranks through elite recruiting and strategic transfers. Head coach Ryan Day, now in his seventh season, has handed over playcalling duties to offensive coordinator Brian Hartline, aiming to bring stability and innovation to the offense.

Offensive Outlook

The quarterback position is a focal point, with redshirt freshman Julian Sayin expected to lead the offense. Sayin, a five-star recruit, brings a high ceiling but enters the season with limited collegiate experience. The receiving corps remains formidable, led by sophomore Jeremiah Smith, a USA Today Preseason All-American, and junior Carnell Tate. The running back room is deep, featuring James Peoples and CJ Donaldson, both of whom have shown promise in spring practices.

Defensive Outlook

Defensively, the Buckeyes are under the guidance of new defensive coordinator Matt Patricia, who brings an NFL pedigree to the college game. The defense is anchored by safety Caleb Downs, another USA Today Preseason All-American, and linebacker Sonny Styles, both of whom are expected to be leaders on the field. The defensive line, featuring talents like Eddrick Houston and Kenyatta Jackson Jr., will look to apply consistent pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

Betting Outlook

Ohio State enters the season with strong betting odds:

  • National Championship: +600
  • Big Ten Championship: +190
  • Win Total: 10.5

The Buckeyes' schedule includes a marquee season opener against No. 1 Texas, setting the tone for a challenging yet promising season ahead.

How to Bet on Ohio State

As one of college football’s biggest brands, you’ll find all the usual betting options on OSU: spreads, totals, moneylines, props, and national title futures. They command attention, and the lines move fast, especially in Week 0 and early Big Ten matchups.

Betting on Ohio State Point Spread

Betting point spreads are wagers based on the expectation that a team will win or lose by a certain number of points, meaning bets on win margins, not just winners.

For example: Ohio State -2.5 (-110) vs Indiana +2.5

If OSU wins by 3 or more, that’s a win for spread bettors. One-score games or losses can wreck the line.

Ohio State Over/Unders

Totals, or over/unders, track the combined scoring. Bet the over or the under, or get refunded with a push.

Betting on Ohio State Moneylines

Moneyline betting is just about picking the winner.

For example: Ohio State -160 vs Michigan +180

The minus sign shows OSU is the favorite, so you’d need to risk 160 to win 100. Michigan at plus-money returns 180 on a 100 wager if they pull the upset.

Betting on Ohio State Props

Player props let you bet on stat totals or specific game outcomes: passing yards, touchdown counts, first score, and more.

Keep in mind, college player props are restricted in some states. If your book doesn’t offer them, DFS platforms like PrizePicks are a solid workaround.
