The latest data from the Illinois Gaming Board highlights another solid month for Illinois casinos, with statewide adjusted gross revenue (AGR) reaching $173.6 million in June 2026. This marks a 9.1% increase compared to June 2025, continuing a strong growth trend across the state’s gaming market.
Although June revenue declined from May’s $192.8 million total, this dip follows normal seasonal patterns. Warmer weather, vacations, and the post-Memorial Day slowdown often lead to lower casino activity during early summer months.
It also doesn't include revenue from the new Hollywood Casino Aurora, which swung open its doors late last month. The project had been in motion for months. In fact, the grand opening date was announced last March, and now, the Illinois casino industry has been changed forever.
Slots and Table Games Drive Growth
In June, Illinois casinos continued to rely heavily on slot machines and electronic gaming devices (EGDs), which generated $132.4 million in revenue. That accounts for roughly 76% of total revenue and reflects an 8.8% year-over-year increase.
Table games also performed well, bringing in $41.2 million for the month. This represents a stronger growth rate of 10% compared to last year, showing increased interest in live dealer experiences.
For example, a player visiting an Illinois casino may spend most of their time on slot machines, but higher-value table game play—like blackjack or baccarat—helps boost overall revenue growth.
Top Illinois Casinos in June 2026
The Illinois Gaming Board report shows that Rivers Casino in Des Plaines remains the dominant force in the state. The property generated $44 million in revenue, up 9.2% from last year. It continues to account for about one-quarter of all Illinois casino revenue.
Several other Illinois casinos also posted strong results, each surpassing $10 million in monthly revenue:
- Wind Creek Casino: $20.5 million
- Hard Rock Casino Rockford: $12.9 million
- Grand Victoria Casino Elgin: $12.6 million
- Hollywood Casino Joliet: $12 million (This casino has only been open for about a year)
- Bally’s Chicago: $11.6 million
- Full House Resorts property: $10.9 million
These numbers show a balanced market where both established casinos and newer properties are contributing to overall growth.

Expansion Continues to Fuel Illinois Casinos
Illinois has expanded its casino industry in recent years, and the impact is clear in the Illinois Gaming Board data. New licenses, upgraded facilities, and racino conversions have helped increase total gaming capacity across the state.
Major developments like Bally’s Chicago, which hit a construction milestone in April, and Wind Creek have added fresh competition and attracted new players. At the same time, existing casinos have maintained steady performance.
Despite competition from video gaming terminals (VGTs), sports betting, and nearby out-of-state casinos, Illinois casinos continue to grow. This suggests strong demand for in-person gaming experiences.

Revenue Impact and Market Outlook
Illinois casinos play a key role in generating tax revenue for both state and local governments. Gaming taxes, admissions, and related fees contribute hundreds of millions of dollars each year.
The Illinois Gaming Board’s monthly reports throughout 2026 show consistent year-over-year growth, often in the 9% to 11% range. This steady performance points to a stable and expanding market.
Looking ahead, Illinois casinos appear well-positioned to maintain momentum. Continued investment, new properties, and strong consumer demand should support ongoing growth across the state.
