Many Kalshi reality TV traders were left scratching their heads during last night's season premiere of Survivor 51.
After all, Survivor 50 Kalshi prediction markets opened earlier this year on Jan. 10, even though the season premiere wasn't until over a month later on Feb. 25.
Sadly, Survivor 51 markets still haven't opened on Kalshi at all, and that's not the only reality TV show to recently find itself in the same boat.
Read on as we breakdown what you need to know about the current reality TV prediction market landscape, and which Kalshi markets we'd recommend trading on in the meantime.
When Will Survivor 51 Prediction Markets Open on Kalshi?
Traders hoping to buy and sell Survivor 51 contracts may just have to wait a little longer. In fact, it's Survivor 49 and not Survivor 50 driving this optimism. This is a notable comparable as Survivor 50 was a returnee season, whereas Survivor 51 will have a fresh cast (like Survivor 49 did).
As previously mentioned, Survivor 50 Kalshi markets opened several weeks early on Jan. 10, despite the season premiere not taking place until Feb. 25. On the other hand, Survivor 49 premiered on Sept. 24 (2025) but Kalshi didn't have any markets for it until Sept. 29.
If the same 5-day delay occurs, we should be expecting Survivor 51 Kalshi markets to open by next Monday (Sept. 28) at the earliest, but that's not a guarantee given how things have gone with The Traitors US.
To paint a picture, last Thursday (Sept. 17) was The Traitors US: Season 5 premiere, which is another pre-recorded reality TV show that does not currently have any Kalshi markets. This is strange as Season 4 premiered back on Jan. 8, but The Traitors US: Season 4 Kalshi markets became available 10 days earlier on Dec. 30.
As such, Survivor 49's Kalshi market timeline might not apply to Survivor 51, should those markets even become available.

Why Are Reality TV Prediction Markets Being Criticized?
Throughout 2026, pre-recorded reality TV shows have drawn heavy criticism.
In the case of Survivor 50, several CBS executives as well as long-time Survivor host Jeff Probst have accused prediction markets like Kalshi and Polymarket of allowing (and even encouraging) both leaks and insider trading.
When the "Who will win Survivor Season 50?" Kalshi market first opened, contestant and eventual-victor Aubry (Bracco) immediately jumped out to a 75% chance of winning. From there, her chances never dipped below 65%, meaning her YES contracts were always priced at 65 cents each or more.
This left a wide gap between her and the second-most likely winner in Jonathan (Young). He initially had a 34.7% chance to win before that quickly dropped below 20% and stayed there until the end.
With the greater majority of traders seemingly all over the Survivor 50 winner from the start, the ability to protect the integrity of pre-recorded reality TV prediction markets has been called into question more than ever.
As a result, prediction market platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket may opt to never offer markets for Survivor 51 nor other select pre-recorded reality TV shows like The Traitors US.
On the bright side, there are still some popular reality shows with Kalshi markets such as Big Brother Season 28.
Featured Reality TV Prediction Market: Big Brother Season 28 Winner
Big Brother prediction markets are still available on Kalshi because eviction (elimination) episodes are specifically aired live. As such, Big Brother Season 28 isn't susceptible to the type of leaks that would allow insider trading, even though most of the show is also pre-recorded.
Note: Like many prediction markets apps, Kalshi verifies the official results through legitimate sources. In the case of Big Brother Season 28 Winner, the market will be verified by CBS and Paramount+.
As you can see from the Kalshi graph above, Big Brother Season 28 Winner traders are predominantly targeting Drew (Campbell) and Dee (Valladares), with Taylor (Brown) and Rick (Devens) lagging fairly far behind.
On the other hand, Kalshi traders buying second-place contracts are giving Taylor a 57% chance whereas Dee is hovering at 6%. This makes sense, as Dee has been considered a threat from the start, meaning her chances of being evicted are high if someone else wins the final challenge.
