Bills vs Browns NFL Preseason Preview
The Bills had quite the offseason, highlighted by Buffalo promoting offensive coordinator Joe Brady to head coach.
In addition, former 10-year NFL veteran Jim Leonhard was brought in as defensive coordinator — he is expected to bring a more aggressive defensive philosophy.
In a blockbuster trade that sent former Bears WR DJ Moore to Buffalo in exchange for a second-round pick, Bills QB Josh Allen was given a massive new target to play opposite of Khalil Shakir.
Bills general manager Brandon Beane was also instrumental in locking up interior line stability by signing center Connor McGovern to a 4-year, $52 million extension.
Buffalo was actually far more active in improving on the defensive side of the football. The Bills revamped their secondary by replacing some mainstays with veterans S CJ Gardner-Johnson and CB Dee Alford amongst a few others.
Leonhard also played a vital role in Bills signing DE Bradley Chubb to assist with a defensive pass rush that ranked 27th in 2025.
Chubb is another year removed from his 2023 ACL tear and will surely provide Buffalo’s defensive unit with an athletic pass rusher coming off of an 8.5-sack season with the Dolphins in 2025.
Both Allen and newly acquired backup QB Kyle Allen saw plenty of run in Buffalo’s preseason victory over the Panthers.
Despite the Bills lookingn largely impressive, Buffalo enters Saturday afternoon’s contest as a 43% underdog on Kalshi.
While the Bills started their preseason with a dominant victory, the Browns got manhandled by the Bears 34-10.
It calls for a slight cause for concern despite Cleveland having made significant changes to both its roster and coaching staff.
After three years as the Ravens' offensive coordinator, the Browns hired Todd Monken as their head coach. In addition, Cleveland hired Mike Rutenberg as defensive coordinator after a year with the Atlanta Falcons in the same capacity.
In one of the biggest moves of the entire NFL offseason, the Browns made a blockbuster trade that sent two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year and seven-time All-Pro DE Myles Garrett to the L.A. Rams for young pass rusher Jared Verse and three high-value draft picks.
In doing so, Cleveland gained a ton of draft capital to be used over the next few seasons as part of a long-term restructure of its roster.
Above all else, the Browns were primarily concerned with improving in the trenches, selecting Utah OT Spencer Fano.
Fano was just one of many moves to improve the Browns’ offensive line, with the team signing OT Tytus Howard to an extension, whilst also acquiring both OL Zion Johnson and Elgton Jenkins.
The Browns hope these additions to their O-line give RBs Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson more space to operate within the gaps.
The Browns went out of their way to secure additional play makers for QB Deshaun Watson by selecting WRs KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston in the NFL Draft.
Cleveland enters its second preseason matchup as a 59% favorite on Kalshi despite a near 40-point scoring margin differential when comparing its Week 1 result to that of the Bills.
Bills vs Browns Prediction, Betting Analysis
While the Bills looked like the superior team in Week 1 of the NFL Preseason, I remain extremely high on the depth of this Cleveland bunch on both sides of the football.
Though Josh Allen saw decent reps in the team’s blowout victory over the Panthers, I would not expect much of the same in Week 2 versus a very physical Cleveland defensive front.
Cleveland also has far more depth in both its second and third units, which I think is certainly reflected in this betting line, which is why I slightly prefer trading the Browns at 57% on Saturday night in what I expect to be a very closely contested matchup.
Pick: Cleveland Browns to Win (59 cents, Kalshi)
