For my top Bears vs. 49ers NFL PrizePicks and Underdog plays, I’m highlighting D'Andre Swift, DJ Moore, and Christian McCaffrey.
While Kyle Monangai has carved out a role in the Bears' backfield, the rushing attack is still very much controlled by D'Andre Swift, who has received 13 or more carries in 11-of-14 games this season, and that volume should continue tonight.
The ground game is a big part of the Bears offense as they run the ball at the seventh-highest rate in the NFL, and Swift's efficiency has made their attack the third-best in terms of yards per carry.
Look for Swift to see plenty of work early as the Bears look to keep the 49ers offense on the sideline.
Rome Odunze has been ruled out of this matchup, and while many are pegging Luther Burden as the pass-catcher to step up, we should see an uptick in targets for reliable veteran, DJ Moore.
Moore is nothing but consistent for this Bears offense, averaging 5.2 targets per game and hauling in 62 percent of them. However, with injuries hampering the receiving corps, we've seen Moore have two games with seven targets, catching five passes each time.
The Bears are projected to be trailing in this matchup, which means we may see more passing late in this one. Look for Moore to become Caleb Williams' safety valve against a San Francisco secondary that ranks 29th in opponent completion allowed.
Lastly, we turn to the 49ers' side of things and focus on their top weapon, Christian McCaffrey. Now, McCaffrey has put together a tremendous season at first glance.
However, a closer look shows his rushing numbers leave a lot to be desired. He's averaged just 3.7 yards per carry, which has made the 49ers' rushing attack sit in 31st.
His overall rushing totals are a result of quantity, not quality, as an average of 18.7 attempts per game has led him to exceed this mark in six of his last 10.
Although he has a good matchup on paper, we've seen the Bears contain rushing attacks this season, and the potential absences of George Kittle and Ricky Pearsall loom large as Chicago could load the box and make life tough for McCaffrey tonight.
