Something has to give when Brighton hosts Newcastle on Saturday afternoon.

The Seagulls have already seen some lofty highs and dour lows in this campaign. The inconsistencies of Fabian Hürzeler’s side are best summed up by their two most recent results: a comeback 3-1 away at Chelsea, followed by a dismal 1-1 draw away at Wolves. Brighton will be glad to return to the Amex, where it has lost just once in its last 11 EPL games.

Despite the summer window saga surrounding Alexander Isak, Newcastle came out as an improved team. Forward Nick Woltemade has scored three goals in his first four Premier League appearances, but the Magpies' best signing has to be defender Malick Thiaw. The 24-year-old formed an immediate partnership with Sven Botman, securing the most clean sheets and the lowest xGA in the league.

The best avenue here is the both teams to score market. That has landed in 86% of Brighton’s matches and in just 29% of Newcastle’s. Something has to give, and that will likely be the Magpies’ approach.

Pick: Both Teams To Score – No (+110)

Two nearly-promoted clubs face off in their fifth-ever Premier League match and their first since January 2022. Unsurprisingly, the bookies are leaning towards Leeds United, but we’re going down another route.

Neither of the two managers has a robust record in England’s top flight. Scott Parker and Daniel Farke have the lowest points per game of any manager who has led at least 50 Premier League games, so something will have to give.

When these two teams met in the Championship last season, a grand total of a single goal was scored in the two matches they played out. Luca Koleosho scored the only goal in Burnley’s 1-0 win away at Elland Road. It’s the type of match that may be more important for either side not to lose than to win. As such, siding with under on goals seems like a suitable approach.

Pick: Under 2.5 Goals (-150)

Crystal Palace vs Bournemouth has hardly been a fixture to remember for most mutuals in recent years. Both matches finished 0-0 when the teams met last season. The Cherries won 1-0 and 2-0 the season before.

It wasn’t always this way. Both teams scored in six of seven matches between February 2016 and May 2019. The final fixture in that run saw Palace win 5-3 in an incredible match on the South Coast. Since then, at least one side has failed to score in each of nine matches, which have averaged 1.11 goals.

Palace has been involved in some exciting matches this season, resulting in the highest xG and total match xG in the Premier League. Its games have averaged 3.5 xG in total. Bournemouth is towards the bottom of that particular table. It has averaged 2.34 total match xG, but that has translated to 2.71 actual goals.

Our projection goes even further with the line at around 2.72 and a 56% chance of both teams scoring. Four of the seven matches each of these sides has played this campaign have seen both teams score.

Pick: Over 2.5 Goals (-111)
