Week 9 Fantasy Football Streaming Selections: Justin Fields, Robert Tonyan & Harrison Butker the Best Plays

"Streaming" quarterbacks, defenses and kickers has been a fantasy football strategy I've successfully used for years.

I've parlayed that success into a series of weekly recommendations of the top streaming options at those three positions as well as tight end — a position I don't recommend streaming week-to-week — which can be of assistance in a pinch.

The concept behind streaming is that you add someone for a given week based on the matchup, rather than putting the emphasis behind a player's long-term projection.

Note that these players are rostered in fewer than 50% of Yahoo! leagues, but that these recommendations do not mean that they are the best streamer play for your league — be sure to check my up-to-the-minute rankings to see who the best available player is in your league.

Bears QB Justin Fields vs. MIA (42% rostered)

The Bears have been calling more designed run plays for Fields over the last few weeks and it has boosted Fields' fantasy value. He has now rushed for 60+ yards in three straight games.

We could see a jump in Fields' passing stats as well this week in a matchup against a Dolphins defense that ranks 29th in DVOA against the pass. Plus, the Bears just traded for Chase Claypool, which is a nice upgrade to the Bears wide receiver depth chart.

Packers TE Robert Tonyan @ DET (51%)

Tonyan opens the week as my TE8 thanks to a heavy bye week for teams. Six squads have a bye in Week 9. Tonyan has a ton of upside this week against a Lions defense that ranks dead last in DVOA against TEs.

Plus, the Packers' WR room is banged up, so Rodgers could lean even more on his trusted TE this week.

Chiefs K Harrison Butker vs. TEN (50%)

Butker was dropped in a ton of leagues as the Chiefs were on a bye last week. If you want to get sneaky, snatch him up this week for a couple of FAAB if you want to lock in a top five kicker for the rest of the season.

Packers DEF @ DET (48%)

It’s slim pickings this week at defense as there are six teams on a bye and a lot of the top defenses have the most appealing matchups this week.

The Packers are an intriguing play this week against the Lions as Jared Goff typically struggles under pressure. Green Bay has generated the fifth-most pressure this year and could force Goff into making a few turnover-worthy plays.

Goff also lost one of his top receiving options this week following the T.J. Hockenson trade. The Packers open the week as my DEF10.
