This is the one Week 1 opener between ranked teams the market treats as close, and the reason is continuity. Ole Miss returns quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, a 25-4 career starter and Heisman contender, and running back Kewan Lacy from a team that reached the College Football Playoff semifinals, even after Lane Kiffin left for LSU and Pete Golding took over. Louisville, under Jeff Brohm, brings back only nine players who logged real snaps last season and hands the offense to first-time starter Lincoln Kienholz.
That experience gap is why the Rebels are laying a touchdown. But a short number in a season opener, with a first-time starting quarterback facing a defense still installing under a new staff, is exactly where Week 1 sloppiness lives. Louisville has won at least nine games in each of Brohm's three seasons and is not a team that gets run out of the building. The points are the play.
