My Bills vs. Texans Predictions
My Bills vs. Texans prediction is Under 44.5 total points (-110). Here is my reasoning for why I expect a lower-scoring, defense-heavy showdown:
- Houston led the NFL in total defense last season, allowing the fewest yards per game of any team since the 2009 Jets.
- The under has cashed in seven of the last 10 meetings between these two teams.
- Joe Brady takes over as Bills head coach after running the offense as coordinator in 2024 and 2025, and that unit led the league in rushing last season at 159.6 yards per game. A run-first identity that's already installed means clock bleeding, not shootouts.
- C.J. Stroud is coming off a season interrupted by a concussion, and Houston's offense repeatedly stalled in the fourth quarter even as the defense carried them.
Josh Allen is the one reason to be cautious of this pick and consider an ALT totals market wager instead. That said, I think the Texans are too talented and well coached defensively to surrender a lot of points.
